The weather has well and truly cooled down hasn't it? ❄️

As always, if we're feeling the cold then our furry friends are too. Even dogs with the thickest of coats can feel the chill of winter sometimes!

So here's a list of our winter essentials for your pooch:
❄️ Get a well fitted coat for them - ensuring it’s water resistant is an added bonus!
❄️ Provide them with warm and cosy bedding
❄️ Bring them indoors if possible, particularly at night time. But if this isn't possible you must do your best to provide warm & dry shelter outside.
❄️ Having indoor enrichment such as snuffle mats, treat puzzles & kongs are a great way to keep your dog entertained when it's too cold or wet for outside play!

Whatever your answer... that's what you should be using when we say 'train with high value treats'. That's the stuff that's going to get them really motivated to complete the task that's being asked of them.

Ida has been enjoying catching up with many of her friends over the past few weeks (human and dog!) 💙

This is her and her beloved friend Maxie Moo. These two normally run around and play around the yard, but Ida's leg doesn't quite allow it anymore. But Max was happy to just relax with his friend.

We are filling Ida up with all of the love we can 🥰

These words also highlight the holistic approach that we take to dog training here at IdaBoss Dog Training. We pride ourselves on looking at your dog as a whole - their training history, medical history, temperament, age, breed, environment - all of it. I've been truly blown away by the love that Ida & I have been showered in since we received the news about her health.

We were recently blessed to be invited to a zoom call that left me in awe. Surrounded by friends & colleagues, Ida was honored with the prestigious Assistance Animals International Medal for her remarkable service as my trusted assistance dog.

Ida has transformed my life in profound ways, and to hear the impact that she has had on others aswell was so heartwarming. My special girl has truly touched so many hearts.

I am deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and love shown to me not just on this night, but the past few weeks as I navigate each day as it comes.

Thank you to Assistance Animals International - AAI and Assistance Paws Australia for the reminder that Ida's legacy will continue to inspire and uplift others long after she has joined her siblings over the rainbow bridge. Thank you for recognizing Ida's invaluable contributions and allowing her to work alongside me as a non-traditional breed of assistance dog and thank you for organizing such a heartfelt event for us.

And a very deserved thank you to Lisa Brown for her work behind the scenes, connecting with my loved ones and ensuring I was a part of the call.

And to everyone who joined in to celebrate Ida, and to those who sent loving messages - thank you.

Ida has the heart of a lion and I know I could not have done the last few years without her by my side.

The love I have for this girl is immeasurable.

31 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child, I was given some advice that has stayed with me for all of these years - because honestly, it's applicable to many situations.

The advice in question?
Start as you mean to continue.

If you want polite children? You start teaching manners early. If you want them to eat healthy? You introduce healthy foods from the beginning. It's as simple as it sounds, but incredibly effective.

Now, replace the word 'children' with 'dog'. Because it applies to puppies too!
