Mount Gambier Pony Club needs help from our community to ensure the smooth running of the Mount Gambier Horse Trials on August 8th & 9th.

If you’re able to help us out on either the Saturday or Sunday please drop us a line by directly contacting the page or texting Lisa on 0418 511 116.

We are particularly after Cross Country Jump Judges on Sunday.
You don’t have to be horsey, have horse experience or even be interested in horses (most of our family members already helping aren’t 😉)

Any help is good help and is greatly appreciate 🙌

Join us this year at the Mount Gambier Horse Trials Riders Party to help the Mount Gambier & Districts Pony Club celebrated 30 years at our fabulous Airport Site.

Details attached, tickets can be purchased directly from the club or via the event on nominate.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported our clinic/open day today! It was great to see so many people brave the weather to join us!

A few house keeping items for Winter Series tomorrow.
🌟 First horse on course at 8:30am
🌟35cm course is built and READY TO GO
🌟Draws are on equipe (as usual)
🌟CANTEEN WILL BE OPEN! We will have hot tea & coffee, hot food AND SOUP!
🌟The cross country course is CLOSED. Any one schooling will be asked to leave the course immediately
🌟Yards north of the arena are currently still under construction and not yet suitable for use.
They are bunted off, please do not lead horses between these yards and the arena.
🌟Any yards used near the club house must be paid for. This can be done at the canteen.

We are also lucky enough to have TWO photographers attending tomorrow.

MacKenzie will be donating proceeds from all images back to our club.
Both girls are local, up and coming photographers so will be great to support them where possible! 🥰

Entries for our upcoming Winter Training Day close this week and entries for Winter Series showjumping opened today!

We open our cross country course for public training only once per year and Saturday 11th of July is that day.

If you're coming to our horse trials in August, this is a perfect opportunity to train at the venue, ride your dressage test and receive feedback and have a show jumping lesson with Jamie Murray. Three training opportunities, one day.

Not coming to the horse trials but keen for a ride you are most welcome to use this opportunity to kick off the winter blues and get out with your horse for a fun day.

The City of Mount Gambier Junior Sports Assistance Fund Committee has provided almost $12,000 in funding to support the delivery of specialised coaching clinics for junior participants across the region.

Member organisations of the fund were invited to apply for financial assistance to support specialised coaching opportunities for junior players, coaches of junior teams, and junior umpires.

Congratulations to the following organisations who were successful in receiving funding:
🎾Lakes Junior Tennis Association – $1,900
🏐Mount Gambier Netball Association – $1,800
🐴Mount Gambier and District Pony Club – $2,000
🏈West Gambier Football/Netball Club – $1,650
🏀Basketball Mount Gambier – $4,400

You might be feeling that the days are short, the nights a bit chilly and enthusiasm for riding may be waning a little.

Well, don't despair we have something for you to get excited about...
On Saturday July11th we are holding a Winter Training Day and Sunday July 12th is our turn to host a round of the Green Triangle Winter Series Show Jumping.

The options Saturday are:
❄️ Dressage Protocol Sessions with Nic Lewis. Choose your test, ride it and receive constructive feedback and areas of improvement.

❄️ Show Jumping Lessons with Jamie Murray. These group lessons will run for 60 minutes and are a great chance to work on your jumping skills before the winter series the next day.

❄️ Cross Country Open Day. 50cm to 1* jumps will be flagged and the course will be open all day. Rider's must school either in a group or with an observer on the ground, NO RIDER is to SCHOOL ALONE. Body protectors must be worn. For those planning to enter the 2026 Mount Gambier Horse Trials this is the last opportunity to train before the course is closed.

All level of riders are catered for on the Winter Training Day: from prep tests and poles on the ground right up to 1m+ and high level tests.

Choose one, two or three disciplines and come for a great day!

Entries for the Winter Training Day will be via www.nominate.com.au from Monday 22nd June.
❗️All non-MGDPC must pay a SAEEM Day Membership to participate. This can be done on nominate with your entries ❗️

On Sunday the top arena will be buzzing with activity as all of the painted poles and fancy show jumping equipment are pulled out for Round 7 of the Green Triangle Winter Series Show Jumping. Welcome to 2026 and kicking it off with a bang at the OPEN SUMMER TRAINING DAY All riders have been emailed the schedule this evening. If you have not received yours email [email protected] for a copy.

Please note due to the large number of entries we are now starting at 1.30pm not the earlier advertised 2pm.

Entry is via Airport Road. Course build and arena build will be at 12.30pm and helpers are welcome.

Spectators are welcome.
