Fruit

Hey fruit and veggie fans. The warm weather has kicked our produce into high gear, and the fruit flush is real. Stonefruit lovers, rejoice. Nectarines and peaches are finally looking gorgeous and under $20/kg. We’ve been eyeing these beauties like hawks, waiting for quality and price to align and now they’ve delivered.

Mango alert: KP and RTE2 trays are rolling in, so grab them now. Prices will drop as the season peeks.

Strawberries in Victoria are in full swing with 500g punnets at $5.79. They’re sweet, juicy, and basically begging to be eaten by the handful. Some members tell us the punnet is empty when they get home.

Vegetables
• Corn: $1.50 sweet, crunchy, perfect for BBQs or sneaky snacking.
• Greens: Beans, snowpeas, sugar snaps are back. Sugar snaps? Delicious raw, stir-fried, or tossed in a salad.
• Italian flat beans: Sporadic but glorious. Normally $20/kg but now under $10/kg. Try this: Quick Flat Bean Stir-Fry: sauté in olive oil, garlic, a squeeze of lemon, and finish with parmesan. Boom and dinner is sorted.
Other veg goodies at good prices: cabbage, broccoli, capsicum, carrots, cucumbers, basil and other herbs. Lettuces, eggplant, and zucchini are also flavoursome at this time of year.

Tomatoes are in season change so Roma and Field are a little tight moving from Queensland to South Australia growing areas, but we’ve local grape tomatoes from Golden Fields and Truss tomatoes that are good value.

Basically: fruit is juicy, veg is cheap, and your fridge is about to be the happiest place on earth. Go forth, Box Divvyers, and fill your baskets.
