The Lavender House Haven

The Lavender House Haven Feathers and Fur! Currently expanding into Cat Rescue and Fostering, a lifelong dream of mine. Chooks frequently available.

On the feathered side, Lavender chooks are my passion and my goal, but (time permitting) I'll hatch anything that interests me.

Fluffy, enjoying the Spring sunshine. ☀️

This sweet boy is so very shy with new people, that he’s had trouble finding his furever home.
This past year though, he’s made such great leaps in his confidence, he might be ready to try again! 😸

The Lavender House...Haven?

Big changes are in the air, do you feel it?

Yes, things are shifting gears here, which will come as no surprise to anyone who has known me for a year or two!😁 "What is she up to now??' they say...

You all know I love my chickens and ducks, but my health over the last year has meant I had to slow down on the breeding aspect and be content with just maintaining my flock, as it was. Now that things have improved, I'll be spending the next few months or so rearranging things and fine tuning my future plans for lots of Lavender beauties! It won't be a quick process, but I'll update here as I go so you can see whats happening.

On another exciting front, I've recently taken on fostering a beautiful but very shy Mama cat, and her four gorgeous babies. Fostering cats is something that I've wanted to do as long as I can remember, but have put off for one reason or another. Well, I guess the Universe decided it was time to step in, so when I got a frantic message from a friend about a stray cat with newborn babies, I hesitated for about 17 seconds before saying "of course I will take them." I knew I'd figure something out!

So, welcome to The Lavender House Haven! We have feathers and fur aplenty... 🐥🦆🐱🐰
Being early days yet, I'm not completely sure how it's all going to look, but if you stick around I'll keep you posted!

Ideally, I'm working towards having a small setup where I can take in cats in need, work with them behaviourally to improve their socialisation and get them "pet ready", get them desexed and a clean bill of health, then find their Purrfect Furever Homes! The fostering will be entirely not-for-profit.

So, there it is! Exciting times here for us, as of course I have my three mini-me helpers who are only too happy to cuddle as many chickens, ducklings and kittens as they have hands for.😆

Keep an eye out for pics of our progress and our beautiful babies, feathered and furred alike.

Meet our foster babies! So much cuteness! While Mama will probably stay here with us as part of the permanent crew, her four tiny balls of cuteness will be looking for their FURever homes in around 10 weeks.

Hello again, chook lovers.
I have some exciting developments here at the Lavender House. As well as continuing to build my Lavender Pekin Bantam breeding stock, we’re also going to be breeding Dwarf Lop bunnies! Before I commit too much to the venture, I want to gauge interest.

Dwarf Lops are one of the cutest and gentlest breeds, we adore our little fluffy butts here - such a great pet for the whole family.

So...are bunnies something you’d consider owning? Would you like to see them here on this page? Of course I’ll document the whole process with LOTS of photos, because OMG CUTE!!

Drop me a line if you’d like to chat. 🐰

I tend to free range the flock here quite a bit, for a few reasons. At the moment they still have acces to the pens, but also most of the back yard.

One of my favourite consequences of this is that the hens are free to choose alternative nesting spots. Some stay in pens, some choose a shady, sheltered spot in the garden.

The best part of that for me is when I’m doing the rounds one afternoon, and find little surprises like this, in the undergrowth. 😁🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣
