For more than twenty years, Australian Cobberdogs have shared our homes, comforted our families, supported people through difficult times, worked as therapy and assistance dogs, and become beloved companions around the world.
As part of a special historical project, we are creating a permanent record of the Australian Cobberdog's journey — not just the history of the breed, but the stories of the people whose lives have been touched by these remarkable dogs.
We would love to hear from Australian Cobberdog owners, past and present.

This project is about recording the people, dogs, and memories that have helped shape the Australian Cobberdog story.
Many of the dogs who started this journey are no longer with us. Many of the people who helped build the breed have now retired. We want to ensure that their legacy — and yours — is not lost.
Every Australian Cobberdog has a story.

Great Mates Australian Cobberdogs are pleased to announce a beautiful litter of five girls.
Available:

🐾 Two black females

🐾 Three cream females

🐾 One already reserved

Expected adult size: Medium

Available to approved pet homes only.

Both parents possess outstanding temperaments and have been carefully selected to continue the Australian Cobberdog qualities we value most - calmness, intuition, trainability and adaptability.

Our puppies are:

• Raised in our home environment

• Bred for family and therapy-suitable temperaments

• Low shedding

• MDBA pedigree registered

• Microchipped

• Vaccinated

• Veterinary health checked

• Temperament assessed

• Supported by ongoing breeder guidance

Families are invited to express their interest early so we can take the time to ensure each puppy is matched to the most suitable home.

Puppies will leave for their new homes at approximately 8 weeks of age following successful veterinary health checks and assessments.

Enquiries are welcome from families seeking a lifelong companion.

Pet homes only. Breeding homes will not be considered.

And Now Pup 2 who was the pup I kept back with Pup 1 as a reserve in case the pup that was going home to a special needs family had soemthing wrong at her final vet check because I didnt want the kids who were counting down the days to getting her to be disappointed. Turned out final vet check was the same as the first both girls perfect. So pup 2 [ now Great Mates Matilda[ Tilly] has landed with an awesome family with three young children and proving she was equal to pup one and not just a second reserve. Quote " she’s here and we are in love! She’s the most gentle and sweet little soul.

Shes already been down on the beach this morning playing.

Once upon a time, a very special puppy was born. She had the gentlest eyes, the warmest heart… and a secret gift.
Far away, there were two wonderful children.
Sometimes, they felt too many feelings all at once.
Their world could get very loud, or very bright, or very fast.

But Penny wasn’t scared of storms like that.
She was made for them.

All was going well as this baby's first guided tour of the living room progressed. Mum supervising and gently guiding her along. We had a small setback for a minute when the baby ventured behind the couch but mum called her back and all is well. I love watching them do their thing. This is such a tiny baby but she is being trained by her all the time.

COMMUNITY CALL-OUT: Help Us Finish What Sharon Started 🐾
You may have heard about the quiet heroism of Sharon Bruce — one of our MDBA breeders who stepped in when no one else could. She took in dozens of neglected dogs, nursed them back to health, and has already found loving homes for many of them.
The dogs she’s rehomed are thriving — a true credit to her dedication and the incredible temperaments these dogs possess.
But the work isn’t done yet and she has been helping these dogs for over a year.
Sharon still has young adult dogs around 1 to 1 and a half years old waiting patiently for their second chance. These dogs are beautiful souls — healthy, kind, and eager to love — but they’ve had a rough start, and they’re not yet ready for family life. They need basic manners, confidence, and one-on-one time… and Sharon is doing it all alone, with no extra hands and no funding.
Can You Help?
We’re looking for kind, capable dog people who can take a young adult into their home for a few weeks — not as a forever commitment, but as a stepping stone.
• You’ll provide gentle socialisation and basic training.
• When the dog is ready for a forever home, Sharon will gift you a bonus payment from the sale, as a thank-you for helping her do right by these dogs.
• You’ll be part of changing a life — and probably your own.
This isn’t about rescue. It’s about restoration. These dogs were let down by others. Sharon is lifting them back up — and now we’re asking if you’ll help her carry them the rest of the way.
If you're nearby or can offer temporary care and training support, please reach out. These dogs deserve every chance — and Sharon deserves to know she's not alone.

Now a much-loved and very accomplished therapy dog, Major Tom is making a real difference in people’s lives, bringing calm, comfort, and connection wherever he goes. His natural empathy, trainability, and soulful temperament are everything the Australian Cobberdog was designed to be — and more.
We’re especially proud that his legacy continues through the next generation: his American-born puppies are now following in his pawprints, also serving as therapy dogs and awesome companions.
None of this would be possible without his incredible owner and handler, Jenny Tasche - Jae Australian Cobberdogs, whose devotion, training, and love for Tom have helped him reach his full potential. Together, they are the heart of what makes the Cobberdog so special.
