🐾 Important Update from HUSKY HOUSE CALL VET 🐾

To our wonderful clients,
We wanted to share an important update regarding our team.

After much consideration, Dr Gen will be stepping away from Husky House Call Vet. We are incredibly grateful for the compassion, dedication, and care she has provided to our patients and families, and we wish her all the very best in her next chapter. She will always be the face and founder of Husky House Call & offer all of our thanks and support to her for her service to the community and the countless animals she has helped within it 💕

As we move through this transition, there will be a temporary pause on all veterinary consultations while we welcome new veterinarians to join the Husky House Call team. We are actively working behind the scenes to ensure services return as soon as possible but ask for your patience at this time.

✨ What does this mean for you and your pets?
While vet services are temporarily unavailable, please contact your local veterinary clinic for medications, veterinary appointments & procedures. Please see our previous post for contact details of all local vets in the Shoalhaven.

Nurse Kelly will continue to support you through her new venture for all nurse visits:
🌊 Oceanside Vet Nurses
Providing in-home veterinary nursing services including:
• Post-operative care
• Medication administration (as prescribed by your vet - veterinary directions/authorisation must be provided with medications)
• Nail trims
• Routine A**l Gland Expressions
• Medication or script pick ups and drop offs
• Hygiene clips & general care & advice

We will continue to work closely with local veterinary clinics and will happily refer you for any diagnostics, prescriptions, or veterinary care needed during this time.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support—it truly means the world to us.

We’ll keep you updated every step of the way! 🤍

🐾🐾 Important announcement 🐾🐾

As of May, Dr. Gen will only be available for veterinary consultations on Fridays. While this change might be a bit difficult to navigate initially, the decision has been made with our long term client care plan in mind. What these changes will look like for our services:

- Priority veterinary consultations will be given to our current patients. As soon as business returns to normal we will be opening up our books to more new clients again.
- Nurse Kelly will be managing the business phone line and emails, with Dr Gen being on the advisory back end of things as needed. We ask that for any non-urgent concerns you text or email your query and we will get back to you as soon as possible. For anyone new to us, we ask that you let us know your patient and client details, particularly the suburb we will be visiting, to help with arranging as many time effective consultations as possible.
- Nurse Consultations will be running on Thursdays & Fridays as normal (Nail trims, A**l Gland Expressions, Booster Injections including Leptospirosis boosters, Cytopoint, Beransa, Solensia & arthritis treatments (must be recently seen by a vet))
- A limited amount of telehealth appointments will be available for applicable concerns (message us if you think your concern is possibly eligible)

Please note that while Kelly will be managing the bulk of the inquiries during this time, she will also be juggling her clinic job and busy home life, so your patience with enquiries is incredibly appreciated.

If your concern is urgent please contact your closest local vet as listed below:
- Jervis Bay Veterinary Clinic (4443 9019)
- North Nowra Veterinary Hospital (4423 1688)
- Bay and Basin Animal Hospital (4443 6677)
- Nowra Vet Hospital (4421 5370)
- South Nowra Veterinary Hospital (4447 8172)
- Bomaderry Vet Hospital (4421 3133)
- Shoalhaven Heads Veterinary Clinic (4448 5621)
- Curleys Bay Veterinary Hospital (4421 3528)
- Culburra Veterinary Clinic (4447 3851)
- Sussex Inlet Veterinary Surgery (4441 1011)
- Milton Village Vet (4454 4949)
- South Coast Veterinary Services (Dr. Glynis) - House Call Vet Option (0412 319 110)

We appreciate your understanding and compassion during this time, and will keep you updated as soon as we can.

Warmest regards,
Dr Gen & Kelly

The best kind of luck is a happy, healthy pet at home with their family 💚

March 3rd is World Wildlife Day 🦘🐍🐨

Here in the Shoalhaven we have some of the most beautiful and diverse wildlife in the world!

Dr Gen not only helps our furred, feathered & scaled friends through providing veterinary assisting to but also is a member of the South Coast NSW Fire Brigade who, sadly, often see many injured wildlife after bush fire events.

This world wildlife day consider showing your support by donating to one of these fantastic organisations who do so much good work for our community! Visit their socials and show your support to our local wildlife warriors! 🐾

💘 Happy Valentine’s Day from Husky House Call Vet! 💘

Flowers are a beautiful way to show love today… but there’s one very important reminder for our cat families.

🌸 LILIES & CATS – PLEASE READ 🌸

Did you know that all parts of all species of lilies are toxic to our feline friends?

That includes the petals, leaves, stems, pollen — even the water in the vase. Tiny amounts of pollen ingestion (for example, when a cat brushes past a flower and then grooms themselves) can lead to acute kidney failure.

This isn’t just a mild tummy upset — it’s one of the true feline emergencies we see in practice, and it can become life-threatening very quickly.

🌸 Fun fact: Nurse Kelly’s favourite flowers are lilies! But they’re always kept outside the house and well away from her cats Missy & Phoenix

For our cat parents, the safest recommendation is simple:
✨ Elimination.
No lilies inside the home or anywhere a cat could access them.

If you suspect accidental exposure — even if your cat seems completely fine — please seek veterinary care immediately. Early intervention truly can be lifesaving.

🌱 Have a plant-chewer at home?
If your cat loves nibbling greenery, consider offering cat grass (such as wheatgrass or oat grass) as a safe alternative. Providing a designated “approved” plant can help redirect them away from unsafe houseplants. It’s inexpensive, easy to grow, and gives them a safe outlet for that natural behaviour.

Love your flowers — but love your cats more 🤍

This is Minnie 🐾
Recently adopted, already very loved… and carrying a little extra roundness 🤭

Her beautiful new owners didn’t know she was pregnant, but were definitely a bit suspicious about how impressively round this little lady was getting. So I popped over to confirm things with an ultrasound — and sure enough, Minnie is expecting 💕

She was an absolute dream for her scan. Calm, sweet, and completely unfazed by the whole thing (as if to say yes, yes, I know). It was really special to see her settling into a safe, loving home just as this next chapter is beginning.

Now the fun part…
How many kittens do you think Minnie is cooking up? 🐱🐱🐱

Some patients leave paw prints on your heart, even if the appointment is brief.
Cats have a way of reminding us to slow down, be gentle, and meet them where they are 🤍

Meet Snowy, the beautiful girl with two different coloured eyes ✨
