One of our customers brought his 93 year old Mum
to visit our aviary and she chose two budgies.

He later commented that it was one of the best things
he has done for his Mum. He said it brought a new spark
to her day. He said she chats to them all day.
She named them Bonnie & Clyde.

A budgie's strongest and most developed sense is vision.

Their visual system is highly specialised for detecting predators and navigating their environment rapidly, with capabilities that
far exceed human eyesight.

Faster Processing:
Budgies can process up to 150 images per second,
whereas humans can only register about 16.
This allows them to see high-speed movements that would look like a blur to humans.

UV Light Spectrum:
Budgies possess an additional fourth type of cone in their retina (tetrachromatic vision) that allows them to see ultraviolet light. This is critical for identifying food, water, and recognizing mates.

Comprehensive Field of View:
Their eyes are located on the sides of their heads, giving them excellent peripheral vision and the ability to view the world in bright, vivid colour.

Motion Sensitivity:
They can detect incredibly subtle movements, including the motion of the sun and constellations in the sky.

While vision is their primary sense, budgies also possess exceptional hearing, allowing them to hear in increments
of 1/200th of a second (compared to 1/20th for humans).

Budgies love to explore, chew, and play.
A lack of stimulation can quickly lead to boredom.
You can keep things interesting by:

• Rotating toys every few days.
