Picnic Creek Reserve pathway water pooling - UPDATE
A temporary trench has been created to disperse the pooling water on a pathway at Picnic Creek Reserve Coomera – this is simply a temporary fix for now.

A soakage pit with drainage lines will be a more permanent fix, however work can’t start until the current rain passes and the area has time to dry out.

I'll provide a further update when a start date is known.

Cycle and Pedestrian Improvement - Highland Reserve State School Upper Coomera

Construction of a new shared path from Highland Way to Stephens Street, Upper Coomera, has been programmed to start mid-September. This project will deliver the missing sections in the active travel network to improve safety.

Work will include construction of a new shared path two metres wide by 390 metres long on the south-western side of Highland Way between the Well and Stephens Street and a crossing point on Highland Way to Skyridge Drive. New street trees will also be planted once stock is available, possibly towards the end of the year.

The Department of Education is planning a new state special school catering for primary aged students to be co-located at Coomera Springs State School. Early planning is being undertaken for the new school. The new school will increase special schooling capacity and provide enrolment relief to nearby Coomera State Special School. The new special school will operate independently from
Coomera Springs State School, have its own street entrance, learning space and outdoor spaces.

As a result of a divisional inspection yesterday the following has been notified:

• Clean-up of a rather sad looking park seat adjacent to 5 Millet Place Upper Coomera – once moss is removed a new paint job won’t go amiss
• Potholes Southern Lights Drive and the laneway of Myalicea Lane Upper Coomera.
• A street sweep of Chinaberry Crescent and Damian Leeding Way Upper Coomera. I’ve also requested a sweep of the left exit lane when leaving the Upper Coomera Centre, to remove debris left on the road from an accident.
• Hanger removal and vegetation maintenance of the green area between Bishopwood Court and Coomera Springs Boulevard.

Good also to visit Tallowwood Park following the recent vandalism - the wheel ruts will be cleaned up as soon as possible. I’ve requested estimates for CCTV. I’ll need to wait for officers recommendations and initial estimates which may be pricey but I’ll keep your posted.

Two new "Children Crossing" warning signs will be installed at the Highland Way school crossing early next week. This will improve visibility for motorists and encourage drivers to slow down. Additionally, the existing yellow no stopping line is to be extended by approximately 5 metres to the east and a new 30 metre yellow line will be installed to the west of the crossing. Following a review of the Hans Street roundabout, I have supported officers' recommendations to remove some vegetation and replace with more suitable species. This will improve visibility and look much more appealing. I can confirm the trees will stay.
