Jake Phillips spends his working life advising cattle producers, so you’d reckon he’d have the numbers side sorted already. But here’s what surprised him at the KLR School.
During one of the hypotheticals, plenty of the room (Jake included) overstocked because it looked like a good trade at the time… and then got caught short when they needed a bit more grass or a bit more capital to grab the next opportunity.
“You kind of feel it intuitively, but until you start putting some numbers around it, you can overlook the importance of the three.”
Grass, money and livestock, getting that balance right is the backbone of everything we teach over the 2½ days, along with working out your cost of carry, the true margin between categories, and exactly what it’ll cost to take your operation to the next level.
Our 2027 KLR Schools are in Orange (23–25 Feb) and Hamilton (2–4 Mar).
