Offering Icelandic Horse Tack for the folks Downunder. We run Haldane Icelandic Horses the oldest and biggest Icelandic stud in Australia and know how hard it can be to find things that work for our horses.
Viking Rider was born of necessity over 10 years ago as there was nothing available in Australia at the time for gaited horses. All our saddles and Icelandic sized gear had to be imported. To ensure our clients had better choice of quality, well fitting gear than we did, Amy continued to bring in more equipment and resources.
With between 50 - 100 horses on the farm, there’s been a lot of road-testing ( and tolt testing) of different products over the years! We know what suits the breed, is functional, shows off our personality's and our horses, plus what has stood the test of time.
Our aim is to also support talented hard working Aussie’s by offering Australian made items in our online store.
The Icelandic sized saddles and gear can be used on ponies and other wanna be unicorns too. Amy has even ridden a clydesdale in her favourite Icelandic training saddle. So please feel free to ask about sizing and advice for your horse. We have several saddle styles you can ride in to work out which feels the best.
Icelandic horse riding isn’t all prissy and stuffy either so I’ve carefully selected brands, colours and styles which reflect this. Because we all deserve to be spoilt there are little touches of luxury, bling and sparkle to make you feel extra special too.
Viking Rider is a touch of practical mixed with a generous sprinkle of fun, because horses bring so much joy and love to our lives.
Viking Rider is owned by Amy Haldane, a perfectly imperfect rider who is living her dream life, as “Mother of Many Horses” and a couple of nearly “Men-children”. Her own Icelandic heart horse is “Gullver from Haldane” a blue eyed blonde with a big personality.
