Well it’s full on here transforming Avery’s into covered chook pens. Ima has been busy digging out the old mulch 😂
As we are well over 50 chickens they all need to be kept inside due to bird flu restrictions. Telling 80ish free range chickens they need to stay inside has not gone down to well. Hopefully 2 more pens finished tomorrow and chooks will no longer be overcrowded. Very worried about all our wildlife hat line on our dams and in our wetlands.

We should have access to vaccines for our loved animals
I will be devastated if my chickens, ducks and our extensive wildlife here are affected 😢

On July 24, two sick birds were found in Western Australia. Today, the virus has infected more than 100 wild sea birds in five states, with more being tested.

Experts such as ecologist Jane Younger are asking the government to rapidly start vaccinating endangered birds most likely to die from the virus. And she urges the government to quickly develop a strategy for seals and sea lions, rather than waiting until thousands are dead. “It’s time to act before catastrophe,” Younger says.

Australia has purchased a vaccine and pilot vaccinations are underway. But the government has not revealed which threatened species will receive wider vaccination, where, or when.
