🐾 27 Precious Lives. Two Rescues. One Very Big Night. ❤️
Tonight, between two rescues, we brought 27 precious lives to safety. Every single one of them is now safe, warm and settled into foster care. That’s 27 little lives who have been given a chance at a better future. ❤️
But tonight is also a timely reminder that behind every rescue is a team of real people, not people sitting behind a computer screen waiting for messages to come through.
We are a small, volunteer-run rescue. Our volunteers work full-time jobs, have families, commitments and lives outside of rescue. We do this because we love these animals, not because it’s our paid job.
Speaking personally, I’m currently the sole carer for 5 neonatal kittens and 6 bottle babies, all requiring around-the-clock care. On top of that, I work 50+ hours a week, manage the day-to-day running of Mornington Moggie Rescue and handle much of the administration, emails and messages.
And, believe it or not, I occasionally like to have a little bit of a life outside of work and rescue too! 😅
We genuinely appreciate every person who reaches out, whether it’s about adopting, fostering, donating or simply asking a question.
But please allow us time to respond.
If your message hasn’t been acknowledged within 24 hours, we completely understand you following up. However, expecting an immediate response, or sending repeated messages because you haven’t heard back straightaway, puts unnecessary pressure on people who are already giving everything they can.
We’re not ignoring you. We’re not being rude. We’re simply busy caring for the very animals you’re contacting us about.
Tonight, 27 lives are safe because people across two rescues gave their time, opened their homes and worked together to make it happen.
A little patience, understanding and kindness towards the humans behind rescue goes a very long way. ❤️
