Cracker Night 2026! 🎆

With cracker night tomorrow night between 7pm and 8:30pm, we want to make sure all our beautiful pet patients stay safe, calm, and cozy!

Loud noises can be startling for our furry friends, but a little preparation goes a long way.

Here are a few easy ways to help them through the night:

🐾 Bring them inside early: Keep dogs and cats indoors well before the fireworks begin.

🐾 Create a distraction: Close the curtains and turn on the TV or some upbeat music to help mask the sound.

🐾 Set up a safe zone: Prepare a quiet inner room or even your wardrobe with their favourite blankets and toys where they can retreat to.

🐾 Check their tags: Ensure collars are secure and council registration details are up to date, just in case.

If your pet suffers from severe noise anxiety, We are here to help you find the best ways to keep them comfortable! 🧡

From your home to the wild... Today we celebrate World Veterinary Day.

This year’s theme, “Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health,” is a powerful reminder that the health of animals, people and our environment are all interconnected.

We live this “One Health” mission every day through our dual roles helping animals

In our clinic we are dedicated to the wellness and wellbeing of your beloved furry and Feathered family members, ensuring they lead long, happy lives by your side.

And through our work with the Tasmania Wildlife Hospital working on the front line of our local ecosystem, treating injured and orphaned wildlife and monitoring the health of the species that share our communities backyard.

A Special Thank You has to go to our amazing team of vets!
None of this would be possible without our incredible team of very talented veterinarians.
We want to take a moment to thank them for their tireless hard work, their deep expertise and their unwavering dedication to your pets and our wildlife.
Whether they are performing complex surgery on an eagle or providing compassionate care for a family pet, their passion for animal welfare is the heartbeat of our practice.

Thank you for trusting us to look after the ones you love and the wild ones that need us too!

A few weeks ago we were thrilled to host Dr. Iñaki Prado Checa, a renowned veterinary cardiology specialist to our clinic.

It was a busy and incredibly rewarding day, with 20 of our patients receiving thorough specialist cardiac assessments.

Having Dr. Iñaki’s expertise onsite allowed our patients to receive advanced diagnostics, including echocardiography and ECGs without the need for long-distance travel.

Not only did this specialist visit help the patients who saw him, it also provided our entire vet team with a chance to learn, ask questions and further their knowledge to help even more pets on the North West Coast.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to our wonderful clients who took this opportunity to prioritize their pets' heart health.
Whether investigating a known heart murmur or conducting a pre-anaesthetic check, your proactive approach to your pets care is truly inspiring.

The day provided valuable peace of mind for many and essential management plans for others, ensuring these cats and dogs can continue to lead happy, active lives.

We are immensely grateful to Dr. Iñaki for his time, his deep expertise and the care he showed each patient.
Collaborative days like this allow us to bring high level specialist medicine directly to our North West coast community.

Thank you again to everyone who participated. We look forward to more opportunities to bring specialised care to our clinic in the future!

We always say that no concern is too small.. especially when it comes to birds. 🦜

Meet Zeddy the Cockatiel.

Zeddy recently visited our clinic for a health check to address a recent concern his owners had noticed.

Birds are masters at hiding discomfort and illness, so being proactive is the best way to ensure their long term wellbeing.

After a thorough check up, we are pleased to report that Zeddy is in excellent health!
The specific issue turned out to be no cause for alarm and he left the clinic with a clean bill of health.

🍫 Chocolate & Dogs – Keeping Them Safe This Easter

Easter is full of chocolate… but it’s important to remember that what’s a treat for us can be dangerous for your dog.

Chocolate contains theobromine, which dogs can’t process safely.
Even small amounts, especially dark or baking chocolate, can make them very unwell and larger amounts can be life threatening.

Watch for signs of chocolate ingestion:
- Vomiting or diarrhoea
- Restlessness or unusual energy
- Tremors or shaking
- Rapid heartbeat
- Shredded wrappers (This is a strong tell-tale sign)

Tips to keep your dog safe this Easter:
- Keep chocolate out of reach (including gift baskets!)
- Remind kids and visitors not to share their treats

If your dog does get into your stash of chocolate, the most important thing is don't panic!
Give our team a call on 64282703 as soon as you suspect that chocolate has been consumed.

A little extra attention over this period means a happy, safe Easter for everyone 🐾
