We've been busy experimenting with dehydrating our own treats that aren't coated with nasty chemicals or dipped in preservatives. Chicken feet seem to be the winner for adult dogs, especially whelping bi***es, due to being nutrient-rich and packed with collagen. They're also a rich source of glucosamine and chondroitin, which are crucial for maintaining healthy cartilage, important for an active or older dog with arthritis. Great for oral dental hygiene, scraping away plaque and tartar, they're easily digestible and low in calories, so as to keep an eye on the waistline.
Obviously, they're not for puppies due to size and bones; they're a bigger dog treat only.
The tribe all semi-rejected them at first, as they're used to yummier ones like liver, which they go crazy for however they look for them now 🤣🐾🐾
And no…we didn’t go and roll a heap of chickens …we went to the butcher and started with a 20kg box, 3 huge beef livers and a 20kg box of necks as well…all for under $100 🐾🐾
The liver also turned out amazing although hard to get off the trays…and the necks need more experimenting, started the temp too low and they developed a smell…which the tribe thought was great however my kitchen didn’t 😳🐾🐾
