GOOSE IS GROWING UP!

Just look at this adorable face! 😍 Meet Goose, the gorgeous Golden Retriever puppy who popped in for his final vaccination and Bravecto treatment!

Goose is one step closer to enjoying all the adventures puppyhood has to offer, and we couldn’t get enough of those puppy-dog eyes!

SPRING IS IN THE AIR… BUT SO ARE THE ALLERGIES!

Warmer weather means blooming flowers, greener grass and more time outdoors — but for some of our furry friends, spring can also mean itchy skin, irritated ears and constant scratching! 🌸

Common signs of seasonal allergies include:
- Excessive scratching, licking or chewing
- Red, irritated skin
- Recurrent ear irritation or infections
- Licking paws or rubbing their face
- Hair loss or sore patches from scratching

The good news? There are treatment options to help your pet feel more comfortable!

Depending on your pet’s symptoms and individual needs, your vet may recommend:

~ Cytopoint injections — a targeted treatment that helps control itch associated with allergic dermatitis in dogs.

~ Apoquel tablets — a prescription medication that helps control itching and inflammation associated with allergic skin disease in dogs.

~ Medicated shampoos and topical treatments — which may help soothe irritated skin and support skin health.

~ Flea and parasite prevention — because fleas and other parasites can contribute to itching and skin irritation.

Allergy investigation and management — identifying possible triggers and treating any secondary skin or ear infections can be an important part of long-term care.

PICKLES’ PAW-SOME RECOVERY! 🐾

Meet Pickles, the curly retriever, who came in with a split nail that needed to be removed.

Ouch, Pickles! 💔 Thankfully, our team was able to treat the damaged nail, bandage her paw and send her home with a stylish cone to help her heal. And just look at that smile! 😍 Even with his bandage and cone, Pickles is keeping that tail wagging!

WHY SHOULD A SPLIT NAIL BE CHECKED BY YOUR VET?

- Pain and discomfort: Nails contain sensitive tissue, so a split nail can be very painful.

- Risk of infection: A damaged nail can expose the sensitive nail bed to bacteria and infection.

- Bleeding: Cracked or torn nails can bleed, particularly if the quick is exposed.

- Further injury: A partially detached nail can catch on surfaces and tear further, causing more pain and damage.

- Proper healing: Your vet can assess the injury, provide appropriate treatment and pain relief, and advise on aftercare.

Depending on the damage, a loose or severely split nail may need to be removed to allow the area to heal properly.

Has your pet split or broken a nail? Don't ignore it, even if they seem happy and are still wagging their tail! Contact your vet for advice.

Meet Matilda, the miniature Dachshund who came in with some uncomfortable ears. 🐶

Ear irritation can be uncomfortable for our furry friends, and there are a few possible causes, including ear infections, allergies and inflammation.

🐾 Signs to look out for at home:
- Scratching or rubbing the ears
- Shaking their head more than usual
- Redness or swelling
- Unusual discharge or an unpleasant smell

If your pet is showing any of these signs, it's worth having their ears checked by your vet. The sooner we identify what's causing the discomfort, the sooner we can help those ears feel better!

SPRING IS HERE — AND BABY BIRDS ARE EVERYWHERE! 🐦💚

Have you spotted a baby bird on the ground? Before you rush to rescue it, take a moment to observe!

Many young birds, known as fledglings, leave the nest before they can fly properly. You might see them hopping around on the ground, flapping their wings or calling out to their parents. This is a normal part of learning to fly! 🪶

So, what should you do?

- Leave them alone if they have feathers and appear alert and active. Their parents are usually nearby, watching and feeding them.

- Keep your pets away to give baby birds the best chance of survival.

- If a baby bird is in immediate danger, such as in the middle of a road, gently move it to a nearby safe spot if you can do so safely.

- If the bird is injured, bleeding, very weak or has no feathers, contact a wildlife rescuer for advice.

🚫 Never take a healthy fledgling home or attempt to raise it yourself. The best place for a baby bird is usually with its parents!

These adorable Cavoodle puppies visited us for their final puppy vaccinations! 🥰
