Weaning is definitely a team effort here at Centauro.

Young man well on his way to being a big boy, a few days into weaning, had his first farrier trim and has had another small block of halter and ground handling working on basic yields.

He is also branded, vaxed, microchipped. Just a little longer for his brands to fully heal so we can complete his registration.

Exciting times ahead...membership and application is submitted for the Centauro stud prefix with ASHS, next steps will be our application for assessment for Rose (our resident black TB mare) ready for a HSH sire this season.

Lots more steps, but the ball is rolling to help preserve HSH bloodlines in Australia. 🩷

Thought we better get a move on training him with these fuel prices and potential shortages🤣🤭 I might need him for transportation 😳

I jest...Our training happens slowly, every little interaction, pressure, timing of release means something. 6 months old this month. He has been taught back through feel on his face and chest at liberty, driven forward with pressure from behind - all the basics through liberty and some pressure with a rope.

Today I just walked up and put the halter on. He didn't lead perfectly - but we got from point a to point b. Ideally a lot more liberty training will happen - but it's just been too wet. We will play more once it dries out.
