🪮 Let’s talk matting in double coats…
This reel depicts the different stages of matting. In all three of these separate videos, when the dryer was removed, the coat looked sleek and knot free.
It is so important to line brush double coated dogs, ensuring you’re covering all areas of their body.
Use a de-tangling spray, then slicker brush, rake, de-mat if necessary, and comb through your dog’s coat.
Remember, if your dog gets wet, they need a brush. Do not let them dry without brushing them.
Clients, If you cannot brush the knot out, I am happy for you to contact me for advice. The main thing is not to let the knot reach the skin. This will then pull on your dog’s skin restricting movement and causing possible bruising. Very uncomfortable for your pup!
I am happy to provide my clients with a free sample of de-tangling spray. Just bring a spray bottle along to your next appointment 😊
And if you’re not keeping up with your dog’s brushing needs, it just means we may need to book your dog in for grooming more frequently.
Key areas to focus on:
⁃ Behind their ears
⁃ Chest area (where their collar or harness sits)
⁃ Sides and under carriage
⁃ Sides and backs of rear legs
⁃ Tail
⁃ And don’t forget to check for mats between their toes 😉
