Guppies are named after Robert John Lechmere Guppy, who sent specimens to scientists in 1866.

🧬 2. Evolution Superstars

The species Poecilia reticulata is one of the most studied fish in evolution research. Scientists use them to observe natural selection happening in real time.

💃 3. Males Show Off to Impress

Male guppies perform little “dance” displays — flaring fins and vibrating — to attract females.

Baby guppies (fry) are born fully formed and can swim immediately — no egg stage outside the mother!

🏔️ The White Cloud Mountain Minnow’s scientific name is Tanichthys albonubes?

🌏 They were discovered in the White Cloud Mountains of China in the 1930s.

❄️ They are often called the “poor man’s neon tetra” because of their bright stripe — but they can live in much cooler water!

🌡️ They’re a true cold-water fish and can thrive in temperatures as low as 60°F (15°C).

📏 They stay small — usually around 1–1.5 inches (2.5–4 cm) long.

👯 They are peaceful schooling fish and look best in groups of 6–10 or more.

💪 They are very hardy and beginner-friendly, making them great for new fishkeepers.

🌿 There are different varieties, including the classic silver form, gold, and even long-fin versions

🔥 Danio choprae is commonly called the Glowlight Danio because of its bright orange-red horizontal stripes that look like they’re glowing!

🌏 They are native to Myanmar, where they live in clear, flowing streams.

📏 They stay small — usually around 1–1.5 inches (2.5–4 cm) long.

⚡ They are extremely active and love swimming in open areas of the tank.

👯 They feel safest in groups of 6–10 or more and show better color in larger schools.

🎨 Males are often more colorful and slimmer, while females are slightly rounder.

🌿 They thrive in planted tanks with good filtration and moderate water flow.

✨ They’re also called “Galaxy Rasboras” because their white spots look like stars in a night sky!

📏 They stay tiny — only about 1 inch (2.5 cm) long.

🔴 Males develop bright red fins and more intense colors, especially when competing for attention.

🌿 They were only discovered in 2006 in Myanmar — making them a relatively new fish in the aquarium hobby!
