We have had to put Dudlee our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier to sleep. He was just shy of making his 13th Birthday. Earlier in the year he did his cruciate ligament just doing a p*e in the garden, we decided not to have an operation because of his age. The vet thought that was a good decision, so we had him on Loxicom which is a pain killer and anti-inflammatory, which enabled him to walk again but only the odd walk outside. He adapted to this very well, but on Wednesday he decided to do a mad dash around the pool and his other leg went and he was unable to stand up at all. During the storms we have had lately Dudlee had started to become petrified, and I think he knew. So, we decided that his quality of life was now compromised, and he was in pain, so we took the heartbreaking decision to let our wonderful Dudlee go a peaceful way and join Blarnee and all his other dog friends back in Nerang Park where he always had the most wonderful of times running free with all the other dogs. Again, my vet was super supportive and thanked us for putting his needs first. The tears are just running down my face as I write this, the hard part of owning such a faithful friend is that you mourn but also talk about how wonderful they were, so it is such a mixture of emotions. Time heals we all know that, but they are never, never forgotten by us and the people that have also enjoyed his being.
