A long awaited milestone.

Our stables slowly talking shape. This has been a long build with many many hurdles.

We are both fortunate and unfortunate enough to live on beautiful rocky Granite country. Great for the scenery, not great for shed footings 🫣

6 months later, the foundation is done and we are up in the air.
Still a lot of earthworks to be done, but glad to see it finally starting to look like something more than holes in the ground.

A little late here, but I’d like to welcome our newest mare, Hot Chex Genes.

A beautiful, roomy, big sook of a mare.
She is 7 Panel Negative and Eeaa.
She is also in foal to A Smoking Gun for a September foal, so we are super excited.

A huge thanks to Vohland Quarter Horses for allowing us to purchase her. It is not often a horse arrives BETTER than the photos, but she sure did in this instance.

Our Lovely Ruth, Havana Fever’s colour test results came back. She is a plain old Palomino!

She has some interesting leg markings and thought that perhaps she may have had a White pattern for markings. And AQHA isn’t known for their accuracy of records, so I thought I’d test a few others to cover my bases.

Nd1/Nd1 is interesting!

Now who shall we match her with this season?

Delighted to finally introduce our newest mare Ruth. Aka Havana Fever.

Ruth is by the great Pl***oys Buck Fever who is a Son of Freckles Pl***oy. Pl***oys Buck Fever is a versatile, Tank of a horse and Ruth didn’t fall far from that tree.

She is out of a mare called ‘Havana’ who is by Lynx little Pep(Peppy San Badger) and Jessie’s Koolibah on the bottom.

She was foaled 2016 and is a Maiden from what we know. She is also 7 Panel clear! 🥰

Ruth came to us basically unhandled, and very very nervous. I still wonder how she actually managed to get onto a float and travel the entire way down here. A credit to the transport company and her nature.

Ruth is a bit special because I had planned to breed into to her Sire this season. Indy passed away and a few days later, I saw Ruth’s ad. I felt it was meant to be, so I snapped her up.

Although we got more work than we bargained for, and she will take quite a bit of time to come around to the idea that humans bring the good stuff, we really like her and hope that she works out for us.

A very Merry Christmas to all of you from us a Narran Park.

We spent our Jolly days exploring around Kosciusko. I took my young filly Lally(MIA Lady Lovelace) who was started by us, up for a trip and she took it all in her stride.

She is such a relaxed, cool, calm and collected mare. Negotiating scary running creeks, giant horse flies, scrub and the dreaded hills. All in her simple Bosal.
She is soft, gentle and such a willing mare. As long as she knows that she gets her dinner when we get back, she will take you anywhere.

Super proud of my husband who is quite new to riding, forging the way aheah on my old gelding Slider. Slider has been there and done that and they both took great care of each other.

Slider was also started by me, many many years ago and is my most trusted companion. He has grown wise and cheeky in his older years, but he deserves it after the many years of fun he has given me. He takes care of Jack and that’s all I could ever ask of him.

Horses don’t need to win the 2024 NCHA Futurity to prove themselves a good horse. Our horses were dragged from the paddock after a 2 month break(young one included), saddled up and rode off like old kids horses, in a totally strange and new environment. That’s pretty darn good to me.

What a wonderful way to spend the holiday period. It might just become our new tradition!

Merry Christmas and a Happy new years to all!

This is what I imagine heaven would be like, full of all the familiar faces we have loved throughout our years. All running up to greet us.

You can see the exact moment that Lally spots me.
It is lovely to have our Spice home and reunited with Lally. They are loving their fresh new pasture.

Jack works very hard to improve and maintain our pastures and does such an amazing job. It sure shows when your horses are happy and spirited like this.

***Edit***
It is with the heaviest of hearts that our Dearest Indy and her unborn Filly passed a few days on from this post. Hopefully an autopsy will give us the answers that we were looking for and bring us some kind of closure. Her loss is heavy.

——-

An eventful few weeks here!

DY Miss Roxy(Indy)came down with a bout of colic a week and a half ago…on a Sunday 🙄

She was treated and then treated again last Wednesday for continued pain.

Her symptoms finally subsided and somehow she thought she STILL wasn’t getting enough attention, so she started developing an udder…we are keen to meet our foal, but only when it’s fully cooked please Ma’am…

Back to the vets she went with her bags packed for a few nights because I was tired of her problems.

Finally she came home this Wednesday, Spock and span as if nothing ever happened. 🙄
She will continue on a bunch of medication until baby is fully cooked.

During all this drama she was seen by a specialist repo vet with a very fancy scanner who gave us a sneaky gender reveal…

Indy is carrying a Filly 🌸

After 3 Colts in a row, this will be nice. But of course it’s the one foal I was hoping to have dangly bits…
Having a nice filly to replace her with will be lovely though and I am feeling very blessed.

A huge thanks to all my amazing support group and Husband for helping me through this stressful time and my work for being very accomodating for my crazy schedule. Surrounding yourself with good people is important. I am feeling very lucky.

Here’s hoping she will cross her legs a little longer! She only has another 24 days to hold it in and then we can all meet her 🌸

Mare power!

MIA Lady lovelace AKA Lally
Had her first ever solo outing on Saturday.
First outing and first competition with over 160 horses buzzing around.

Probably only her 10th ride and she did amazing. Completed every task asked of her, both willingly and softly.

Lally is currently only ridden in a Bosal Hackamore and has been coming along beautifully. She is such a soft and responsive filly.

Unfortunately no photos of us in action as I was by myself. Next time!
