The moment that terrified, defensive cat gives you a sign they are willing to let you into their world is one of the most heartwarming and rewarding moments of rescue.
Sadly, many people never get to see that, such is the hatred and vilification of cats. ☹️
Not just kittens but all ages of cats are capable of learning to trust in the right hands. But it must be in their timeframe not the humans timeframe.
Some cats may never let you completely in and thats ok too. But is doesn’t deserve a death sentence.
They are all Gods creatures. 🫶🏻

* Latest update: we were able to get these for only $5 each 😱 so i snagged the lot (10)for $50. Thankyou to Aimee and Bunnings. 🙏🏻 and thankyou to those who answered the call for donations to buy them. They will go to good use for covering the outdoor cat houses replacing the existing non waterproof, torn and faded ones . ❤️

Product donations needed. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻We could use a few of these to replace our worn out canvas covers on the cat cubbies.
If anyone is able to buy any to donate to the sanctuary they are on clearance at Taree Bunnings.
I can collect from the counter or have Aimee pick them up if you cant bring them out. TIA🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️

Some cats don’t just follow you around the house.

They check where you are going.
They trail behind you like they have been assigned a very serious night shift.
And somehow, those tiny footsteps can make you feel safer than they probably know.

Maybe that is part of why we love them so much.

They do not need to be big to make a home feel protected.
They just need to be there.

I’m dumbfounded! I dont even care if he sees this post because im livid!!

So, theres a person a few houses up from the main colony site who ended up with two older kittens ( likely from colony) under his house( m&f)

He’s been feeding them so technically they are his but we have offered to help desex them via vouchers (kindly supplied by rspca) and he can have them back if he wants. All he has to do is trap/catch them since they are familiar with him as he wont let us do it.

After it being explained how in no time it will get to epic proportions like our 87 strong colony did in 3 years if it remains unchecked, he just keeps making excuses!

Female cat is now pregnant! In**ed likely as the male is her brother though we do know there is a ginger tom a few houses up thats still around.

We know what will happen and we cant stop it due to peoples stupidity.
Another colony in the making😡😡😡😡

He rents and isn’t allowed pets so eventually the same thing will happen.
He will leave or get evicted and the cats will pay the ultimate price 😢of starvation.

We spent 12 months working on the Victoria street colony project cleaning up a mess that started when irresponsible morons abandoned a bunch of undesexed cats when they moved. Three years and 87 cats ( actually its now 91 if you include the last family we got) and kittens later and you can now go to the same site and not a single cat is there.

I just cant fathom people not desexing even when help is offered. Kitten season is just about to kick off and I’m pretty sure most rescues are overwhelmed and closed to intakes. I see it through my rescue circles even if the public doesn’t.
So where will all those kittens end up? Free on social media to snake people, animal abusers and hoarders.!

I just don’t know what we can do anymore. 🤷🏼‍♀️
