“LEST WE FORGET”, for all the Diggers and their
Ponies.... I don’t think all the Apples and Carrots in the World can thank the Horse and Mules that gave their lives in the name of WW1.
Take some time out today and over the Anzac Weekend to remember them.
Sadly of all the 136,000 horses🐎 that left AUSTRALIAN 🇦🇺shores to be used in World War 1, shockingly only one came home! Shown here in this reel is General William Bridges and his brave Steed Sandy.
The General was sadly killed in action....and his dying wish was to have his beloved horse Sandy be sent home for retirement! Sandy was that horse who returned to Australian Shores after WW 1.
The rest were either killed in combat or at the end of the War shot by the Soldiers who rode them, who feared for their future on foreign soil. The Australian Government would not pay for them to be brought home. 🥲
One cannot even begin to imagine what these soldiers had to go through!
What is important now is too REMEMBER, REFLECT and NEVER FORGET!!
Give your horse or pony a big hug🤗 and apple 🍎 or carrot 🥕 over the weekend and think about those that lost their lives for our beautiful country Australia. 🇦🇺
