🐻🎀 Want your pup to look like a real life teddy bear? Here are some groomer tips to help keep that fluffy look while also keeping your dog comfortable, healthy & matt free 💕✨
1. Keep your dog on a regular grooming schedule 🛁🎀
Every 4–6 weeks or 6–8 weeks depending on your dogs coat type and how prone they are to matting. Consistency is KEY to maintaining that soft fluffy coat! 💗
2. Brush & comb DAILY ✨💕
I know it sounds like a lot, but think of it like cleaning your house, if you do a little everyday it takes 5 minutes, but if you leave it for weeks it becomes a huge job. Daily brushing keeps the coat soft, fluffy & knot free! 🎀
3. Use BOTH a slicker brush AND a comb 🐶💗
And make sure you’re brushing EVERYWHERE:
• behind the ears
• under the collar
• legs & armpits
• tail
• chest & tummy
Most importantly , brush ROOTS to ENDS! ✨ If you’re only brushing the top layer, the matting underneath is still there. Mats start from the roots! 💕
4. Your dog doesn’t need a full groom every appointment ✂️🎀
You can alternate between a full groom and a tidy up appointment to help maintain the coat, keep the fur soft, and avoid needing to go super short 💗
5. Washing at home? DRYING IS EVERYTHING 💨💕
Always fully rinse out shampoo & conditioner, and make sure your pup is COMPLETELY dry afterwards. Leaving the coat damp can cause matting very quickly 🎀
The best tip? Brush while drying! ✨
This is basically the doggy version of a salon blowout 😂💗 It helps create that fluffy teddy bear finish while keeping the coat healthy.
And remember… 💕
“I like my dog looking shaggy” usually just means “my dog hasn’t been brushed” 😭 A fluffy brushed coat = a comfortable happy pup & less chance of needing a shave down at their next appointment 🤍🎀
