Avian Influenza has been detected in QLD (primarily affects sea birds) so caution must be taken when handling birds. Bird flu is contagious to birds and occasionally mammals including humans.

In order to protect the community, our patients and staff our protocols have changed. We are still triaging wildlife but birds are no longer permitted in the building.

If you are bringing in a wild bird please call us when you are outside so we can provide further instruction. Thank you

Time for some pathology! 🔬

Ernest has been very busy this week running bloods & helping with cytology. Using the microscope was fun but he was worried he'd dye his paws when staining the slides.

We quickly explained this was just part of the job & it can be entertaining trying to explain to owners 😂

We couldn't find any broken bones, or any bones at all really? 🤷‍♀️ How weird!
