Why an anatomically correct harness matters for your dog.

Not all harnesses are created equal.

An anatomically correct harness isn’t just about control — it’s about your dog’s long-term health, comfort, and natural movement.

Here’s why it matters:

āœ”ļø Protects the neck and spine

Distributes pressure across the chest instead of the throat — especially important for breeds like French Bulldogs or Pugs, who are prone to breathing issues.

āœ”ļø Allows natural shoulder movement

Harnesses that sit too close to the shoulders or run straight across the chest can restrict stride and alter movement over time.

āœ”ļø Prevents joint and muscle strain

Restricted movement can lead to tension, imbalance, and potential long-term orthopedic issues.

āœ”ļø Improves comfort and behaviour

A well-fitted harness reduces rubbing, pressure points, and frustration — making walks more enjoyable for everyone.

With 2025 coming to an end, we know there will be lots of parties and fireworks to welcome 2026. While it’s exciting for us, it can be a stressful time for our dogs.

To help reduce anxiety tonight, here are a few helpful options:

🐶 ThunderShirt – Applies gentle, constant pressure that can have a calming effect on dogs who are anxious, fearful, or over-excited.

🧣 DIY ThunderShirt – You can create your own using a snugly wrapped blanket or linen to help provide comfort and reassurance.

Dogs rely on their cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) for stability and quick movements. When this ligament gradually weakens and tears, it can cause pain and lameness. This issue is more prevalent in larger breeds such as Rottweilers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Mastiffs, Saint Bernards and Labradors, and there’s a 50% chance the opposite leg will also be affected.

Problems with the hind limbs in dogs, such as hip dysplasia, cruciate injuries or lumbosacral disease, often cause them to shift their weight onto their front legs.

This extra load can lead to pain in the shoulders, neck and front legs because the muscles become overworked. Providing balanced care, pain management, and rehabilitation to support the dog’s whole body helps prevent secondary discomfort and enables them to move more comfortably.

Do you know which muscles are most commonly injured?

The most common muscle injuries seen in dogs, especially active or athletic ones, include:

ā–Ŗļø Supraspinatus and infraspinatus (shoulder stabilisers): common in dogs that play fetch or take part in agility; leads to shoulder pain.
ā–Ŗļø Iliopsoas strain (hip flexor): causes hind limb lameness and reluctance to jump.
ā–Ŗļø Hamstrings (biceps femoris and semitendinosus): often strained during fast running or slipping.

Studies show that shoulder injuries account for nearly 50% of all sports-related muscle problems in dogs. If your dog suddenly starts limping, hesitates to jump or seems sore after playing, it might not just be stiffness — it could be a soft tissue injury.

Can arthritis only affect large dogs? No, arthritis is not limited to large breeds of dog — dogs of all sizes can get it. However, large and giant breeds are more susceptible due to the additional strain their body weight puts on their joints.

As dogs get older, it’s natural for them to move a little slower. 🐶 Aging can bring common mobility issues likeĀ arthritis,Ā hip dysplasia, orĀ joint stiffness — but the good news is, there are supplements that can help support their comfort and quality of life!

Two popular options to support joint health in dogs:

šŸ”¹Ā Canine Rose-Hip VitalĀ®
This natural anti-inflammatory is made from rosehip powder and is rich in antioxidants. It helps reduce joint pain and inflammation, improves mobility, and may even boost immune function — all without harsh side effects.

šŸ”¹Ā AntinolĀ® for Dogs
A powerful, natural supplement made from marine lipids (PCSO-524Ā®). It’s packed with omega-3 fatty acids and has been clinically shown to improve joint health, reduce inflammation, and support overall mobility and wellbeing.
