The rain just kept coming… 14 inches over two and a half days.
Thank you so much to all the beautiful people who checked in with us during the downpour. Your messages and calls meant more than you probably realise.
Thankfully, this time we had some warning and were able to move the horses to higher ground. After what we went through in 2022, that warning made all the difference. You think you’ve healed from something like that, but when the rain keeps falling and the water starts rising again, the anxiety and memories come flooding back just the same.
We are incredibly grateful that this time there were no heart-breaking mare losses. That alone feels like a huge blessing.
There’s still a long road ahead — kilometres of fencing to rebuild, mud and debris everywhere — but those are things we can fix with time and hard work.
And on the bright side, the water tables should be well and truly topped up for the next few years.
Floods like this are starting to feel like more than a “once in a lifetime” event… but despite it all, we still love where we live and wouldn’t trade it for anywhere else.
Thank you again to everyone who reached out and thought of us. It truly means the world. ❤️
