Council has committed to taking over the shelter for 12 months.

Council is urging people to "step up" and volunteer their time to save animal's lives.

Well our last day is done and dusted.

Thank you to each and every one of you that helped us make HCWAS become such a great rescue, we couldn't have done it without you all.

Thank you also to those that told us we couldn't do it, that it would never work, and there was quite a few
You made us even more determined to succeed.

Our matriarch Hope has gone to live with one of our volunteers and her bestie Moose.
Thank you Tanya and Moose.

We will keep the page going so we can keep in contact with our dogs we have adopted out so please keep us updated.

We will also post anything we think is important regarding animal welfare.

All that is left to say is thank you again and cheers 😊

Look who came to visit us yesterday 😀 it's beautiful old Chief.

He's had a few more lumps and bumps removed over the last 2 years and getting a little slower but he's doing great and loving life.

Thanks to his parents for taking such good care of him for us 🙂

With Thor and Dakota finding their forever homes Zena still is waiting for hers.

She is a sweet girl that loves her people and is quite happy to amuse herself when you are busy

Zena is not cat friendly nor birds chickens ducks etc and she can be a bit particular with other dogs.

With just under 2 weeks before our lease is up and we close we still have Thor Zena and Dakota waiting for their new homes.

We are willing to negotiate adoption fees however we won't compromise on the suitability of new families.

Although Thor is the happiest dog in world when we tried to get nice photos if him he would look like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders.
We finally found the answer to getting him to smile for the camera 📸

Poor Zena is still waiting patiently for her new family to find her.

Zena will be best suited to a home with no other dogs, definitely no cats and simply due to get exuberance no small children.

Thor does not tolerate in your face dogs very well however the in your face puppy seems to have bought out his inner child 😅

After 3 failed attempts in the last 2 years to retire, it is with mixed emotions I (Kate) have made the decision to close our shelter.

Our last day will be the 21st September 2022.

It's been a 10 years with many ups and downs.
I've had some great support over those years and thank each and every one of you that supported us in one way or another.

To those that make regular donations can you please make arrangements to stop payments. I will try and contact you all individually but some of those donations are anonymous.

We will still be taking boarders up till the 15th September.

If anyone is interested in starting a new rescue under a different name I'm happy to help you in getting set up with advice on starting up a charity, it can be overwhelming when you're starting out.
Before making that decision think very carefully about it before committing and please don't contact me unless you are serious.

It is a 24/7, 365 day a year commitment. You are expected to be available 24 hours a day.
It's a lot more than just playing with cute puppies.

In the mean time we still have some wonderful dogs looking for their happy endings.

Meet Zena.

She has been busy the last few months raising babies.
The kids have gone on to their new homes and she is ready now to start her new life.

Zena is approximately 2 years old. As sweet as she is she can be pretty particular about meeting other dogs so we are looking for a home where she will be the only dog and no cats.

This goes out to the person that made a complaint against us to the RSPCA, and I know who you are.

We had a visit from the inspector this afternoon but due to privacy the RSPCA can not tell you the results of the inspection so I will.
I am very happy to give my permission for the results to be made available to the public as well

One of the first things the inspector asked was did we have a disgruntled volunteer/ client as they could tell immediately the complaint was not founded.

They were very complimentary in fact on the size and cleanliness of the kennels and yards and the health, condition and happiness of the dogs.

The thing people don't realise when they make unfounded complaints is that it doesn't hurt the manager, volunteers etc it does however have the potential to hurt the dogs that that rescue could have would have taken in the future.
