The Paws for Life Animal Shelter and Boarding Kennels is a facility run by Tamworth Regional Council. Hours: Monday to Friday by appointment.

Open Saturday 9am - 2pm. Closed Sundays & Public Holidays. The Paws for Life Animal Shelter and Boarding Kennels is a facility run by Council to house animals long term that are available for adoption, and free up much needed space at the Tamworth Regional Companion Animal Centre. Members of the public interested in adopting a pet are asked to call Paws for Life on (02) 6767 5991 and arrange an ap

🐾 Harvey – Big Goofball, Bigger Personality 🐾

Meet Harvey, an approximately 2-year-old mixed breed boy who may technically be an adult… but emotionally, he is still very much someone’s oversized toddler.

Harvey is smart, goofy, eager to please and firmly believes that life should revolve around three things: snacks, toys and being included in absolutely everything.

This clever boy already knows how to sit and shake, and with the right food-based negotiations, he can even show off a drop. Harvey is highly food motivated, which is excellent news for training… although he would probably argue that he deserves payment for simply existing.

He’s currently working on his leash manners and, being the bright boy he is, is picking things up quickly. With someone willing to continue his training, Harvey has loads of potential to become a very impressive gentleman.

When Harvey isn't busy expanding his education, he loves toys, playing, socialising and generally having a wonderful time. He's an enthusiastic kind of guy and may enjoy having another equally exuberant doggy friend to wrestle, zoom and carry on with. A meet and greet will be required to make sure everyone appreciates Harvey's particular brand of friendship.

Harvey is really just a big baby in a grown-up dog’s body - affectionate, playful, clever and ready to find someone who will continue teaching him all the important things in life… preferably with a treat pouch and an excessive amount of ‘good boy’ pats.

If you're looking for a goofy best mate who can shake your hand, make you laugh and then immediately forget his own size, Harvey might just be your boy. ❤️

🐾 Still Waiting… But At Least They Have Each Other! 🐾

Mickey, Bella, Bronte and Mabel are all still patiently waiting for their forever homes - through absolutely no fault of their own. ❤️

While they wait for their people to find them, these four have been keeping each other company, enjoying plenty of playtime and, most importantly, learning some very valuable doggy manners along the way!

There’s been zoomies, wrestling matches, games of chase and plenty of opportunities to practise sharing, socialising and knowing when it's time to nap in the sunshine. 😂🐶

Each of these beautiful dogs has their own personality and so much love to give. They’ve been patiently watching their friends come and go, and we’d really love to see Mickey, Bella, Bronte and Mabel get their turn next.

🐊🐾 Gator's Happy Ever After... 🐾🐊

Some dogs don't even get the chance to make their big social media debut... and Gator was one of them!

Before we could formally introduce this handsome boy to everyone, his forever family had already found him and decided he was exactly what they were looking for. Now answering to Maverick, he's officially traded kennel life for couch cuddles and a family of his own.

Gator quickly became a favourite around the centre. Every day he'd be waiting at the gate to greet staff and visitors, proudly carrying one of his beloved toys as if to say, "Welcome! Fancy a game of fetch?" If he wasn't showing off his retrieving skills, he was busy convincing someone to stop for a cuddle - because underneath all that enthusiasm was one very affectionate, snuggly boy.

We're so excited for Maverick and his wonderful new family. We have no doubt he'll be keeping them entertained with endless games of fetch, plenty of toy deliveries, and enough cuddles to last a lifetime.

🐾 Bella – Love Included at No Extra Cost 🐾

Meet Bella, an approximately 10-month-old mixed breed sweetheart whose favourite hobbies include making new friends, zooming around the yard at top speed, and reminding everyone that life is meant to be fun.

Bella is one of those dogs who simply loves being happy. She's incredibly sweet, affectionate, and always ready for a cuddle once she's burnt off some of that youthful energy. If you're looking for a dog who will keep you smiling, Bella has that job covered.

This playful young girl would love a canine companion who can keep up with her enthusiasm for life. A meet and greet will be required, but she'd thrive with a doggy friend who enjoys a good game of chase and wrestling just as much as she does.

🐾 Billie Has Found Her Victims... We Mean Family! 🐾

After advertising one tiny dinosaur disguised as a puppy, we somehow found a family brave enough to sign the adoption papers... and they even looked excited about it!

Whilst waiting for her new pawrents to return from overseas Billie kept herself busy learning puppy manners, socialising with other dogs, discovering that not everyone enjoys being launched at like a furry missile, and beginning her training to become a respectable member of society. (The jury is still out on that last one.)

Now she's officially traded shelter life for family life, where we're sure she'll keep everyone laughing, assist with redecorating the backyard, and continue proving that being equal parts genius and menace is actually a lifestyle.

Congratulations to Billie's new family! Thank you for embracing every bit of puppy chaos that comes with raising a clever little mixed-breed mystery. We can't wait to watch this sweet girl grow into the amazing dog we know she'll become.

🐾 Mickey – Built Like a Tank, Powered by Belly Rubs 🐾

Meet Mickey, an approximately 8-month-old American Staffordshire Terrier with a squishy face, an even squishier heart, and a talent for convincing you that he's definitely overdue for another cuddle.

Like many young Amstaffs, Mickey is full of love, enthusiasm and personality. He absolutely adores people, and believes belly rubs should be included in everyone's daily routine. If you're looking for a loyal shadow who'll happily lean into you for affection (and probably sit on your feet), Mickey is your guy.

This handsome boy is incredibly food motivated, which makes him eager to learn and a great candidate for ongoing training. He's still young and with a bit of a rough start to life, would benefit from a family committed to continuing his training and helping him build his confidence through exposure and socialisation.

Mickey is a bit of a ladies man and likes having a female canine buddy around. A meet and greet will be required to ensure everyone gets along before heading home together.

🐾 Copper Has Officially Galloped Off Into His Forever Home! 🐾

Some puppies have elegance... Copper had legs. Long, lanky, slightly uncoordinated legs that always seemed to arrive a few seconds before the rest of him.

Our sweet, goofy boy has officially found his forever family, where he'll no doubt continue growing into those oversized limbs while handing out cuddles and making everyone laugh with his wonderfully goofy personality.

Copper has a heart every bit as big as his paws, and it didn't take long for his new family to fall completely in love with him. We know he's in for a lifetime of adventures and zoomies.🐾

🐾 Bronte – Beauty, Brains & Those Impossible-to-Resist Eyes 🐾

Have you ever met a dog who can make you fall in love with just one look? Meet Bronte.

This gorgeous young Cattle Dog X girl is approximately 12 months old and has perfected the art of making you feel like the most important person in the world. Whether it's those big, soulful eyes or her affectionate nature, Bronte has a way of convincing everyone she meets that she deserves "just one more pat"... and honestly, she's right.

Bronte is an intelligent, active young lady with a sharp mind and a love of learning. She thrives on companionship and simply wants to be wherever her people are, whether that's joining you on an adventure, learning something new, or just soaking up all the affection she can get.

Bronte is also playful with other dogs and enjoys a good romp with canine friends so would be good with another dog in the home pending a successful meet and greet.

🎤✨ Please welcome… the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK! ✨🎤

Yep - we’ve got some more newbies this week who have just joined the Paws For Life crew!

🐶 Bella – Female Mixed Breed - Approximately 6-7 Months
🐶 Mickey – Male Amstaff X - Approximately 7-8 Months

Right now, these two gorgeous pups are settling in while they complete their mandatory quarantine period and required vet work to ensure they are healthy, happy, and ready for their forever homes.

These pups will be ready very soon, and all enquiries are welcome now!

If they aren’t snapped up quickly, we’ll be sharing their individual spotlights and adoption details once they receive the all-clear - so stay tuned.
