🚨 Flooding & Your Horses – What to Remember! 🚨

Hey horsey family, we know that dealing with flooding is tough, and looking after our horses in these conditions can be challenging. Here are some key things to keep in mind:

✅ Get your horses to higher ground – Safety first!
✅ Fresh water & plenty of roughage – Hydration and forage are essential.
✅ Keep them dry – If possible, provide dry rugs or towel-dry them after the rain.
✅ Check for injuries – Swelling, cuts, abrasions, or lethargy can indicate a problem.
✅ First aid – Wrap swollen legs, clean wounds, and apply iodine if available until your vet can assess.
✅ Shelter – Try to keep them out of extreme weather conditions.
✅ Take care of yourself too! – Stay warm, stay dry, eat well, and keep hydrated. You can’t care for your horses if you’re unwell!

Stay safe, and if you need help or advice, reach out to the community – we’re all in this together! 💙🐴

As we bid farewell to our beloved master farrier, Steve from Kew Forge, we are filled with immense gratitude and admiration for the incredible work he has done over the last seven years. Steve's unmatched knowledge and expertise have been a beacon of hope for our rescue horses, and our horses in general, who has been integral in giving them the best chance at recovery and a new lease on life.

Steve's dedication and passion for his craft have made him an irreplaceable part of our team. His presence has always brought a sense of warmth and camaraderie, making every interaction a pleasure. Although he is retiring, Steve will forever remain a cherished member of our family.

This was one of those moments where I just realised how lucky I am to be a coach, because it’s not just about trying to perfect technique, it’s about encouraging your clients to see their potential, their abilities even when they doubt themselves and want to give up, to create a safe and sustainable mindset and riding environment.
It’s about being 100% there for them and encouraging them to try, to remember why they started riding, to remember that this isn’t about ribbons - it’s about the love you have for horses, that innocents and vulnerability we all have when it’s just us and our horse, embracing and empowering ourselves and one another and not tearing each other down, not tearing ourselves down.
I met Samara when she came off this big bay at TEG, it was a pretty nasty freak accident, and I had no idea who she was but all I could do in that moment is just sit with her and be there for her. She had surgery, she recovered, she messaged me and we began training together with her other horse Kenny and on Friday, she got back on Aero. Originally, we were just doing groundwork and practicing mounting and dismounting, we removed all of our expectations, and just took it slow.
As Samara got more comfortable and confident we began walking and trotting, cantering and even a few jumps.
We removed all pressure, all stress, all expectations and we just took it as it came and my GOD! I am so proud of the maturity she showed and the growth in just a few lessons with Kenny and now Aero!
Sometimes we all need to remember it isn’t a race, and if we are too focused on the finishing line and getting there too quickly, we miss the whole journey 💞
I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you Samara!
