🐾 Clinic Cases: From Towel Trouble to Tail Wags! 🐾

This curious pup got a little too adventurous and decided a towel was on the menu… 😬

After an exploratory laparotomy (ex-lap), our team successfully removed the foreign material and got this sweet patient back on the road to recovery. We’re so happy to report they’re now doing wonderfully—back to eating the right things and enjoying life again! 🐶💕

A gentle reminder to keep an eye on what your pets can access—our furry friends don’t always make the safest choices!

Huge shoutout to our amazing team for their care and expertise, and to this brave patient for being an absolute superstar throughout their journey. 🌟

This week is Dog Anxiety Awareness Week, an important reminder that our furry friends can feel anxiety and stress too.

Here are some tips to help your pup feel calmer and happier:

✔️Watch for signs of anxiety like pacing, restlessness or excessive barking, as these can all be clues.
✔️Stick to a routine as predictability makes dogs feel secure.
✔️ Daily exercise and play help release stress and build confidence.
✔️ Create a safe space, as a cosy corner with favourite toys can be a calming retreat.
✔️ Talk to our team if anxiety is impacting your dog’s life, as professional support can make all the difference.

Every dog is unique, and showing patience, love and understanding goes a long way toward their wellbeing 🐾💙

✨ What’s REALLY going on inside your pet’s ears?

Ever wondered what your vet is looking at when they take an ear swab? This is called ear cytology — and it gives us a microscopic view of what’s happening deep inside your pet’s ear canal.

🔬 In this image, we can see:
• Rods – often associated with more serious bacterial infections
• Cocci – round bacteria that are commonly found in ear infections

While you might only notice scratching, head shaking, or a bit of smell, there can be a whole world of microbes causing discomfort beneath the surface.

🐾 Why it matters:
Identifying the type of bacteria helps us choose the right treatment, so your pet gets relief faster and more effectively.

💡 If your pet has:
• Ongoing ear issues
• Redness or discharge
• A strong odor
• Frequent scratching or head shaking

…it’s time to get those ears checked!

Healthy ears = happy pets 🐶🐱💙
