This guy has taken a long time to let down his guard and today we made great progress with the saddle
Finally happy to wear it and have some BIG releases 🙌 😍

Today with we worked on mind and body control.

He can be quite sensitive to leg pressure or anything touching his sides.

So on the ground, we’re re-programming what contact means.

Right now his first instinct is to jump and duck away when he feels my leg or the whip touch him.

What I’m teaching him is — contact doesn’t mean freak out and jump sideways.

Contact has a job.
It means: wait. Listen. Don’t overreact. Wait for the guidance.

*What I’m looking for is slow feet. Because slow feet means a slow, thinking brain. Not fast and reactive.*

It’s a big mindset shift for a sensitive horse, and he’s trying so hard. 💛

Float training is a process

The main aim isn't just getting the horse on the float
My aim to have them relaxed and confident enough to make the decision themselves ❤️

Backwards is not the answer
Stressed is not the answer
Calm, confident and curious ❤️

We need to create curiosity in the float and have them feel safe enough around us to be able to travel with confidence

The best little guy today
is really becoming a nice little man
He is learning how to control himself and his body in a correct and balanced way before we start riding
This will make the transition to riding smoother for him because if he isn't relaxed and balanced with us on the ground he will not be balanced and relaxed when he get on top

Listening to your horse and taking baby steps each ride does not make you a weak rider...

Listening to your horse make you a good leader...

One of the first rides I had on splendour she was uncomfortable, was shaking her head, didn't want to move forward and almost threatening to do something 'naughty'

I could of pushed her through and got the job done but im not that kind of leader...

I listened to what she was saying and helped her with more balance and more confidence and today she gave me so much more 🥰 really nice trots and confident walks

She was still pulling and unbalanced but thats for another training session, I was over the moon with this one ❤️

Not every training session needs to be hard and sweaty, if we can learn how to listen and become a good leader, the leader that your horse needs they will give you more and more every session

Balance + relaxation = a lovely ride
And cello is working his best to achieve both balance and relaxation and we can't ask for anything more
