This Saturday 25th April is 🌍 World Veterinary Day 🌍 (last Saturday of April)

This year’s theme is “Veterinarians are guardians of food and health” - outlining the role that vets play from farm to fork, ensuring animal health and welfare is paramount, improving food security and managing disease every day. We work alongside our clients and farmers to provide animal food that is safe and nutritious.

That’s the big picture. In reality, we are animal health professionals going about our day! And we love it 💪

🐣🌸 **Easter Safety Alert for Pet Owners!** 🌸🐣

Easter is a time for treats and celebrations—but some festive favorites can be *dangerous* for our furry friends. Keep your dogs and cats safe by watching out for these **toxic Easter foods and items**:

🚫 **Chocolate**
Contains theobromine, which is highly toxic to pets—even small amounts can cause serious illness.

🚫 **Hot Cross Buns**
Often contain raisins or currants, which can lead to kidney failure in dogs.

🚫 **Grapes & Raisins**
Extremely toxic—can cause sudden kidney failure, even in small quantities.

🚫 **Garlic & Onions**
Can damage red blood cells and lead to anemia.

🚫 **Bulb Flowers (e.g., tulips, daffodils)** 🌷
Bulbs are especially toxic and can cause vomiting, drooling, and more severe reactions.

🚫 **Cooked Bones**
Can splinter easily, causing choking or serious internal injuries.

🚫 **Foil & Candy Wrappers**
Can cause choking or dangerous intestinal blockages if swallowed.

🐾 **Keep treats out of reach, secure your bins, and remind guests not to feed pets human food.**

💛 If you suspect your pet has eaten something toxic, contact us immediately.

💚 George 💚
We had the pleasure of meeting sweet George, and he was such a happy boy!

After his castration procedure ✂️ , George recovered in the ward 😴 with his dedicated vet nurse 👩‍⚕️ to continue his monitoring 🩺

Once fully recovered from his anaesthetic, George had some brekkie 🍖 and went out for a walk 🐕‍🦺. And of course, got lots of cuddles 🥰 ! George was discharged later in the afternoon 👋 to continue his rest and recovery at home. 🏠 Wishing you a speedy recovery George!

💡 Did you know that our patients undergo the same health checks and pre-anaesthetic exams, like in people?

We often perform a baseline Pre-Anaesthetic Blood 🩸 test to identify any issues 👀 prior to the anaesthetic, which also helps to ensure all major organs are functioning ✅ and will be able to handle an anaesthetic 💪. It’s also a valuable tool to get baseline blood results incase your pet does become unwell.

We are very fortunate 🙌 to offer in-house blood testing for our pets, which allows us a very quick 🏃‍♂️ turn around time for results 📝 . Meaning we can analyse, diagnose and treat your pet promptly compared to waiting for blood tests that are sent away. It’s just one of the many tools we have to provide high standards of care for our patients 🤗
