Warmer days are on the way.
With temperatures beginning to rise in some parts of Australia, particularly here on the Gold Coast in Queensland, it’s important to plan our dogs’ walks for the cooler parts of the day, either early in the morning or later in the evening once the ground has cooled.
Pavement can heat up quickly and may burn sensitive paws. If the ground feels too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your dog’s paws.
Choose shaded areas, carry water and adjust the length and intensity of your walk when needed. Sometimes, skipping a walk during the hottest part of the day is the smartest choice.
A little planning helps keep our dogs safe, comfortable and happy as the weather warms up.
