Our meerkats have learned a clever new skill 🐾 voluntarily entering their crates and even closing the doors behind them for vet visits!

Thanks to consistent training and lots of positive reinforcement (yes, treats were involved!), these bright little animals are taking an active role in their own care. This kind of cooperative behaviour reduces stress and makes routine health checks smoother for everyone involved.

It’s just one of the many ways our team works to build trust and promote animal care through enrichment. 🎥 Keeper Deane

🌏 This World Environment Day, we’re celebrating a major conservation milestone! 🌿

Earlier this year, we were part of the release of five Eastern quolls into a protected rewilding sanctuary in NSW, marking a powerful step forward for this native species, which has been extinct on the mainland for over 60 years.

Born and raised at Sydney Zoo, these quolls are now thriving in a safe, predator-free environment, where they’ll play a vital role in restoring ecological balance. From breeding to behavioural training, our team worked tirelessly to prepare them for life in the wild and it’s only the beginning. 💚

At this year’s Charity Night at GLOW, held at Sydney Zoo, one powerful moment captured what community and innovation can achieve together.

Thanks to the generous support of Sunrise Medical, nine-year-old Shiva Yareeda, who lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, received a Zippie Xcape Folding Frame wheelchair, a life-changing gift that offers much more than mobility.

For Shiva and their family, the Zippie Xcape wheelchair represents independence, possibility, and the strength of a community that believes everyone deserves the chance to move through life with confidence.

We are proud to support moments like this, thank you to everyone who helps make these experiences possible. 💙
