The winter school holidays are coming up next month and we have a pawsome way to keep the kiddos entertained... their very own cat newsletter! 👧🐛👦🎨😸

Individually addressed to each junior cat lover member, our Kids Club recipients are always super excited to receive their own mail – a four-page newsletter with info and activities all about cats. Plus we always include an extra colouring in or activity sheet for extra fun 📔🖍️

Kids Club is just $10 a year for 4 editions sent straight to your doorstep in time for the school holidays. All proceeds go towards helping Cat Protection cats and kittens😻 You can sign up here by selecting the ‘Kids Club’ option: https://catprotection.org.au/membership/

😻 Happy forever homes 😻

Just wanted to send some updates of our first two weeks with the love of our life, Nutmeg. After throwing a few different names around we just couldn’t find one that suited her more than Nutmeg, so we decided to keep it. She’s a curious little gal who loves watching the world go by out the window or snuggling up on our bed or her fave spot on the couch.

😸 ADOPT MEOW 😸

🐼 Panda is an absolute sweetheart! This polite little purring machine may take a moment to settle but once he gets to know you, he will happily curl up close by and request lots of chin and butt scratches. Panda is a super smooch at heart and when he’s feeling more confident, you’ll be treated to a steady supply of snuggles.

🐼 This big-hearted boy has a lovely gentle nature and is purr-fectly content spending his days lounging around. In fact, he loves lounging so much Panda would be delighted with a window hammock or any high up perch where he can keep watch from an elevated spot.

🐼 Giant Pandas spend over 10 hours each day eating and this little feline Panda thinks that sounds like a marvellous idea! Panda is not at all picky about his snacks and enjoys all sorts of treats, you’ll find one of his favourite hobbies is lingering in the kitchen around mealtimes and doing little loops around your legs until dinner is served.

🐼 Nothing much phases this affectionate kitty, Panda has previous experience around children and may enjoy the company of some junior cat-lovers in his forever home as well. Panda’s ideal forever home will be indoors-only as this beautiful boy is happiest hanging out with his humans and enjoying all the cosy comforts of an inside lifestyle.

Kewpie has been keeping warm on these cold night in one her many Cuddle beds and of course enjoying my electric blanket.

😻 Happy forever homes 😻

My beautiful new cat is so perfect. I’ve named her Daisy and she has settled in so well she can be so sweet but also can be a ratbag at times which I enjoy. She has a bit more energy than I thought she would, runs flat out around the apartment but I know she is happy and at home in her new environment. 💜
Thank you for letting me adopt her. I love her to bits.

Our story

Cat Protection began in 1958, as a small group of just 10 volunteers dedicated to reducing the number of stray cats. They worked tirelessly to desex street cats and find them loving and responsible homes. In those early days, all they had was a post office box, some stationery and the home phone of our President and founder.

For 20 years our early members had no base of operations. Their spirit and perseverance saw them help many cats while raising funds to buy a property. In 1979 bequest income allowed Cat Protection to purchase the building that continues to be our home, 103 Enmore Road Newtown. In the beginning it housed our Op Shop and administrative operations but no cats. Several vets who we worked with to desex cats agreed to hold felines at their clinics so they could be adopted.

In 2003 our newly renovated cattery opened allowing us to rehome cats and kittens from our own, purpose-built premises.
