How Healthy Are Organ Meats? 🤔 Depending on the Sourcing

Dogs and cats can receive superior nourishment from fresh, unprocessed organ meats. 🐕🐈 They have high nutrient density, excellent nutrient profiles and high digestibility. Used correctly, they can become “whole food mineral supplements.”

👎: The problem is most companies in the ultra-processed pet food industry doesn’t use human-grade ingredients.

In the US, USDA food inspectors inspect animal and plant products If meat passes inspection, it’s called “human edible” (human grade), and if it doesn’t, it’s deemed “feed grade” (aka pet food quality). 🤢

These “feed-grade” organ meats fail inspection for a reason, but still wind up in various protein meals purchased by popular pet food companies. Unfortunately, pet food made with these dried meat and organ meals can be deceptively labeled as “made with real meat” on the packaging. ⚠️
