🍀We are very lucky at Chatswood Vet Clinic to have an awesome team of very talented Vet Nurses. Ashley and Aisling featured are helping look after a cat that is suffering from a form of dental disease which was triggered when his immune system started to attack his own teeth. This condition is called Feline Stomatitis. This dynamic duo were recently on a 2 day leadership course with Dr Lesa and make a significant contribution to the business above and beyond the fabulous work they do as Vet Nurses. 👏👏👏👏👏 🐱

Lest We Forget – Honoring the Animals of War 🕊️🎖️ Our clinic is closed today. We reopen again on Tuesday 28th April. See Emergency Contact Details in this post.

On , we remember not only the brave men and women who served but also the loyal animals who stood beside them.

From horses and donkeys carrying supplies, to messenger pigeons delivering crucial wartime messages, and courageous military dogs protecting soldiers, these animals played a vital role in our history and continue to serve today.

🪡Surgery incisions are typically closed in three layers to ensure the wound heals securely and comfortably.

Layer 1: Fascia/Muscle (Deep Layer): This is the “strength” layer. Vets stitch the tough connective tissue to hold the body’s weight and prevent the wound from pulling apart.

Layer 2: Subcutaneous Tissue (Middle Layer): This layer of fat and connective tissue is stitched to “close the gap” between the muscle and skin.

Layer 3: Skin (Surface Layer): The final seal. This can be done with external stitches (requiring removal) or “buried” intradermal stitches that dissolve on their own.

Multi-layer closing is used in veterinary surgery for three main reasons:
🦠Prevents Infection
❤️‍🩹Faster Healing
✅Reduces Chewing
