Showing the progress of a saddle I'm bringing back to life after someone tried to paint a leather coating on it and gave up...

This coating literally makes the leather mostly impervious, you're then not able to condition and moisturise the leather which will eventually result in cracking and stiffness. The leather is not able to 'breathe'

The saddle takes many hours to prepare to finally receive a proper leather dye, as opposed to painting a coating on.

This is the initial stage, lots more to go, watch this space for the final result xx

The leather has already been fully prepared to accept the dye (about 2 to 3 hours of work) and this is just the initial coat. Enjoy x

Still figuring out the hyperlaspe on the phone, but here's some fun insight into an initial saddle clean when there's significant mold involved. This saddle will have a thorough clean and be allowed to dry in the fresh air before it is brought in to be cleaned again, then conditioned.

Please always wear a proper face mask and perform this initial clean outdoors if you're going to give it a go yourself 😊👍 after, throw the cloths away, do not reuse on another saddle
