⚠️PYOMETRA⚠️
Pyometra is a serious infection of the uterus that commonly affects entire female dogs & cats (not de-sexed), usually after a season/heat cycle. It can become life-threatening very quickly if left untreated.
🐾 Signs to watch for:
• Drinking more water than normal
• Increased urination
• Lethargic
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting
• Swollen abdomen
• Vaginal discharge (not always present!)
🚨 Important: Some female develop a “closed pyometra”, meaning there is NO discharge visible, making it harder to spot, but they can become critically unwell very quickly.
Treatment often requires urgent surgery (desexing/spaying) and intensive veterinary care.
💛 The good news!! Pyometra is preventable through desexing your pet.
