For sale: 6yo OTT mare Shady "Shadesofmidnight" approx 16hh

Blank slate to make her into whatever you want. With her lovely frame and scopey paces she's an ideal Equimillions candidate. Last raced on Tuesday (12/11/24) photos are from her first and second times ridden since retiring, first time she's ever been schooled on the arena. Video available as long as you promise not to judge my riding after 6 months out of the saddle 🫣

No dirt, no buck/bolt/rear/shy but is a bit of a busy body. She self loads on the float, can be a little annoying when travelling but travels well. She would benefit from a good letdown, she loves spending time in the paddock with other horses.

Experienced home only as she is fresh off the track and will need re-educating for her next job. We can keep her on for retraining if you desire. She's up to date on everything, asking $2.5k.

“My dad always said they can learn more from a (tie) post than most people can teach them.”

I read that in a buckaroo group the other day.

I can confirm it’s incredibly humbling to realize this...

A few years ago, I experimented with doing a preliminary tie week with client horses, and found out it did more good than an extra week of groundwork.

Talk about an ego killer.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying tying fixes everything, or that tying is a replacement for correct training.

I’m saying I learned I was doing both too much, and not enough.

Tying gave them the time and experience I had been neglecting to.

The calm daily routine of standing tied with their hay bag gave them the time they needed to get comfortable with the sights and sounds of unfamiliar facilities, and to get some passive exposure watching me work other horses.

Starting out with a ‘herd tie,’ they learned not to worry as buddies and strange horses came and went, and we built more duration and distance each day.

I don’t think it’s helpful to start working on relationship or training until we get this other stuff out of the way. Every time we have to contend against it, we inevitably become the bad guy.

* * *

Tying has become a bit of a lost art.

Some consider it to be something that’s cruel or unfair.

It can be.

But horses already know how to stand around and just hang out and take a nap, so if we approach tying the right way, it can be the same.

And so much more.

Kid's pony for sale!

The time has come for Pebbles to find her next jockey.

The classic little white pony, Pebbles has been entirely handled and ridden by kids since she was broken in in late 2021. She's trustworthy to take out and about, she has done mustering, beach days, local comps and working eq clinics. Would make a fab little pony club mount but we haven't had the time to take her.

Pebbles is approximately 13.1hh and about 7yrs old. No vices but can have a shy every now and then so not suitable as a first pony. Easy to c/s/f/w/etc. Up to date on all, kept barefoot, on grass. She is best suited to a confident small rider who is ready for a second or third horse to have fun on.

Asking $5k ono. Located Sutton Forest NSW. Genuine sale due to personal circumstances.

Edit: the perfect home has been found! Thank you to everyone that expressed interest 😊

Handsome Hayden is available and looking for his new home!

He's had a couple of weeks of reeducation, and is a safe, blank slate for someone to take on and make their own. Lovely moving horse with a kind and friendly temperament. No dirt or nasties, he has had a long letdown since retiring from racing in 2021. He's a very good doer for a TB. Easy to handle in all aspects on the ground, quiet under saddle but still green in terms of flat work. He's good with other horses in the paddock, lead him off any vehicle or another horse.

Up to date with everything, teeth and feet have both been done in the last few weeks. Approx 16.2hh, 10yo gelding. He was a stable favourite at the track

Asking $1500 ono. Price is not reflective of his quality. He has some cosmetic lumps and bumps that do not affect him but they aren't pretty. He has windgalls on his fronts, an unsightly bog spavin on his nearside hock and an old ulcer on his right eye that left a small scar (he still has full vision)
Due to these faults we are open to offers on him. We had a basic trot up done when we bought him back into work and were given the go ahead. He has been totally sound in work and is being worked barefoot. Vet checks obviously welcome! Located Sutton Forest NSW.

10yo Clydie x TB gelding, approx 16.2hh

Throw him on the float and take him anywhere. He's fine in groups, by himself and in new places. Has done lots of mustering, beach days, multiple working eq training days and a few local comps (showjumping and dressage) with a variety of riders. His most recent fun day he won his dressage by 5% and was given personal compliments by the judge and penciller who came down to meet him after he finished his test 🥰

No lunge down required, even after an extensive spell. Saddle and jump straight on when out and about just like you're at home. He is the same horse today as he will be in a month.

Floki is an honest horse, but he's not suited to nervous or inexperienced riders. No dirt/vices, but he can be sensitive and unsure and has a couple of minor quirks. He is not a confidence builder, he is only as confident as his rider is.

Up to date on teeth/feet/worming/etc. Easy to c/s/w/f/etc. Vet checks welcome. Easy keeper, happy paddocked alone and in a herd, gets along well with other horses. Ties up all day, open and shut gates off him, lead him off a horse/quad/lawnmower/whatever. Safe to handle on the ground by anyone. Not fazed by any animals big or small, farm vehicles, machinery, traffic etc. Brave enough to face a charging bull yet gentle enough to handle him through WE obstacles while carrying a baby (both have been done!)

$10k negotiable. Home and rider suitability is most important, please don't hesitate to reach out if you think you'd have a suitable home for him. No beginners. Located Sutton Forest NSW.

Taking offers on this handsome man 🥰

Very sweet OTT gelding Hayden, "Hail the Hero". He is by a stallion called Congrats, who is the sire of all my favourite trackwork rides ;) pictured is his current condition. He has wintered out in rough country at Crookwell, absolutely zero hard feed or hay, no rugging and is looking a million bucks! Needless to say he's a very easy keeper.

We've only just bought him in and his first ride back yesterday was uneventful. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to snap any video but will try to get some asap. He was very quiet on the track and I'm sure will be straightforward to educate as a ridden horse ☺️

He does have some old windgalls and a bog spavin on one hock. We had hoped that they would go down, but unfortunately with almost 2 years off but they are still quite obvious. We had our vet look over him yesterday and trotted him up. They seem cosmetic and he had no qualms about putting him back into full work.

I really feel like this guy will be perfect for someone looking for a friend to take trail riding and maybe some adult riding club days or clinics, even some low level comps. We are more than happy to work out a reasonable rate to keep him in work for his next owner if they wish to have a bit more education and exposure under his belt before taking him home.

He has been easy to catch and lead off the bike/buggy to change paddocks, doesn't need holding to trim his feet and loaded straight on the truck to come home the other day with no dramas. Travelled well and tied up for the afternoon. He's good with other horses in the paddock, has lived out with sheep, cattle, goats, roos, pigs, you name it!
