What a beautiful afternoon spent with 6 dogs and their humans ❤️
Young dog Uso joined us from the 🐶Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge🐱 ... a great experience for him whilst he waits for a home 😔

It was Louie the GSD first walk with us.... with his Mum looking for opportunities to improve his comfort in the presence of other dogs...

Since coming on the walks, Jimmy Chew's Mum has reported an improvement in his comfort with walking in other locations at home.

Our next walk will be Sat 12 Sept @ 8am

This was a challenging pack walk this week.
A larger group and our mix of stable to reactive dogs was not ideal.. 🫣
We had difficulty with achieving fluid movement which raised tensions in the dogs 😬

But hats off to everyone - no one lost their cool with either themselves or their dog and they supported each other. I couldn't ask for anything else....

What a beautiful winter morning for a pack walk in Australia.
Multiple reactive dogs in this group. Everyone working to their dogs ability, pushing their capabilities and achieving more than they thought possible.

Our first weekday pack walk. 4 dogs... super confident Molly the cattle dog, Leon sensitive to new environments and people, Apollo unsure around new dogs and people and Uso from 🐶Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge🐱 learning to be comfortable in new settings ❤️❤️❤️

The Buderim Foote Sanctuary provided some great tracks to wander through.

Be careful walking your dogs near waterways in particular beaches, lakes, rivers, creeks, dams are all places where waterbirds may be found sick and dying.

Keep your dogs on a lead, do not allow them to chase birds, as the birds that are sick might not be able to fly off and could easily be caught which is not good for the bird and potentially infecting your dog.

Do not pick up sick or dying birds. In Queensland call the Emergency number 1800675888 or 132523.

If you absolutely can’t avoid picking up a bird, you really should wear full PPE. Tell other people not to touch them. Carrying a spray can of paint and marking them if you’ve called the hotline, to stop other people from picking them up might also be a good idea.

Basically, don’t touch them and don’t let your animals touch them.

If you do pick up a sick bird, wildlife carers, the RSPCA, Australia Zoo wildlife hospital, WIRES etc may not agree to take them.
They will be operating their own strict biosecurity.

So many mountains to see on this pack walk.
It quickly warmed up from 6C 🥶 into a glorious morning

All dogs were working through sensitivies, confidence and reactivity. They were all amazing, as were their humans ❤️

We welcomed 2 dogs from the 🐶Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge🐱 to help them with their socialisation

It was Jimmy Chew first packwalk with us and Leon's second. Bella has been with us from the start and now settles in nicely with these adventures.

Uso (the rescue) fell in love with Leon (scared of people and the environment).

Jimmy Chew (labradoodle) and Bella (border collie) become best friends ❤️

Rex (the rescue) did much better than expected around multiple dogs he didn't know 😍

Good advice that keeps children and dogs safe ❤️

An active baby on the move means parents have a lot to juggle when sharing space with family dogs. This is one of the busiest stages of parenting!

❗️One of the most important rules: never allow your baby to approach the family dog. We always say: “Dog and baby on the scene, a parent in between.” This simple step prevents startling or uncomfortable interactions.

🐾 As babies crawl closer, dogs often show subtle stress signals—lip licking, yawning, scratching, turning away. Sometimes they’ll get up and leave, but other times they may stay put.

❗️That’s why your role is to notice these signals and prevent the approach. In our experience, it’s usually when the baby goes toward the dog that growls or snaps occur.

✅ Tools like crates, gates, play yards, or even positioning your own body as a barrier (what we call success stations) make a big difference in keeping everyone safe.
