Keep your sessions short - beginning with gently touching your pup all over – rewarding good behaviour with a high value treat. Gradually increase the firmness of your touch, and then move onto lifting a front paw up, back leg, touching ears, head, lifting tail, touching nails. You can start by doing this whilst your pup is relaxing, the aim is to move onto a standing position so they are happy to stand at the groomers or vets and are not touch-aversive. Young puppies may not like this at first but time and consistent training pays off!
