Thank you all for the incredible kindness you’ve shown me since Geoff’s passing. Your messages and tributes to the man he was mean more than I can put into words.
I’m still trying to find my footing in a world without him, and I appreciate your patience as I process this profound loss. I am still very much feeling lost and hurting, so please forgive me if I haven’t replied to everyone individually yet.
I will provide an update soon regarding the arrangements to celebrate his life and give him the send-off he deserves. Until then, thank you for being there for me.
Your thoughts and memories of Geoff are keeping me going right now. Please keep sharing them.
Thank you.

It is with a heavy heart and profound shock that I share the news of the passing of my partner and co-founder, Geoff, who passed away last Thursday evening.
Twenty years ago, Geoff and I started Diggers Herding & K9 Education together. While I have always been the "voice", Geoff was the quiet force and the backbone of our business. He was an incredibly gifted trainer in his own right, possessing a level of "dogmanship" that you simply cannot teach. He had an intuitive way with the animals and a natural ability to instruct people that made everyone feel capable.
Geoff and I worked as one. We fed off each other’s energy and reached a point where we could practically read each other’s minds in the field. He was the one who ensured every herding event ran like clockwork, always ready with a laugh, a helping hand, and that steady presence that made Diggers feel like home to so many.
As our clients have shared over the years:
"Dave and Geoff have endless patience and explain everything so clearly... with a love and understanding of dogs in mind."
Whoever met Geoff loved him. He was always up for a joke, and his passion for the work was evident to everyone who stepped onto our property.
I am still in deep shock and navigating the weight of this loss. Geoff wasn't just my business partner; he was my life partner of 27 years and my soul mate.
We ask for your patience and kindness during this incredibly difficult time.
Geoff, your legacy is in every dog you helped and every handler you inspired. You will be missed beyond words.

I am currently trying to raise funds for expenses, funeral and a celebration of Geoff's life. if anyone would care to assist please please donate to

“We need a balanced view of stress. Acute, manageable challenges—those that elicit adaptive stress responses—support attentional sharpening, facilitate memory consolidation, strengthen social bonds, and promote effective learning. These benefits are highly context-dependent: stress can enhance cognition and affiliation when moderate and predictable, but excessive or prolonged stress can overwhelm these systems, impairing memory, social interactions, and overall well-being.”

- Roger Abrantes

Abstract Stress is often portrayed as harmful, yet moderate, acute stress can enhance learning, memory retention, and social bonding. Recent epigenetic research reveals that stress hormones modulat…
