π¨ π
Rain on the radar π§ and cooler temperatures rolling in across South Australia today. That brings welcome relief, but it also means increased wildlife movement.
Here is what to watch for π
1οΈβ£ More movement near roads π£
Koalas and other native animals often become more active when conditions cool down βοΈ. They may cross roads more frequently, particularly at dawn, dusk, and overnight. Please slow down and stay alert in known habitat areas π³
2οΈβ£ Koalas drinking from puddles
If you see a koala on the ground drinking from puddles on or near roads, please call us immediately π€³.
Our Wildlife Veterinary Centre π₯ data shows that koalas actively seeking water are very often unwell. This behaviour is commonly associated with underlying disease, dehydration, or systemic illness π€§. Early intervention makes a significant difference to outcomes.
One phone call can prevent prolonged suffering and in many cases can save a life π
