I’m on my way to finding the time (ensuring I’m pouring from a full cup) for more walks. Availability will be released when it exists but first I’ll be in contact with specific regulars who I feel obligated to touch base with first 🌸

I know you might be thinking I’ve gone MIA. I haven’t, I’ve just been giving myself the time and kindness I’ve needed while learning the ropes. Of a new job, at almost 30…

Although I’m not going to be able to get back to walking as many dogs as initially intended while holding down a full time position. I still want to help you all, and be there as a person of support for you, and your dogs.

Social media is a powerful resource, I want to help as many people as I can through here and over the phone if needed. I will get back to my messages and any phone calls in due time. If I can’t help you with your exercise or enrichment needs in person then, I want to guide you toward experienced and trusted professionals in the area who I know of in the area who I can personally vouch for.

What’s exiting for Affinity now is, the powerful skill I am learning every day to add to my tool box which is knowledge in the vet industry.

As receptionist I don’t have the hands on time with your dog’s at the vet, but I do get to see, hear and experience it all from the owners (your) point of view. If that is not worth its weight in gold with my exisiting knowledge, then I don’t know what is!

If you have any questions, requests of content, or even vet related enquires send them though! I’ll be rebuilding my presence online, at a speed that feels natural and aligned with where I am currently at!

As always, happy to be of service 🌸

đź‘€Keep your eyes peeled for some limited walk slots that will become available this week đź’•

I hope all of my beautiful doggies are very well and happy. If all of my pet parents could give their pups and extra squeezy cuddle from me as I’m missing them all very much.

I Hope to see some of them on the end of my leads again soon ❤️

My new role is going amazing, I’m absolutely loving it! 🥰 this past week my body feels like it’s been in holiday mode. Walks along the beach before work. I’m back at the gym, and staying consistent with my runs again, slowly coming back into my skin 🤍

A note from the boss lady –

Running Affinity was a dream I never had but was made possible because of all of you.

I carried the responsibility of taking care of all the dogs like they are my own, both a joy and a heavy weight on my shoulders and I will forever feel grateful to each and every one of you, for allowing me the honour and experience of being involved in your dog’s lives. It has been a pleasure!

A new door has opened, an opportunity too great to pass up. I will be the new receptionist at the Nowra Veterinary Hospital. A familiar face to greet your dogs if you visit, I will remain a helping hand just in a new setting, a new environment, that I think will make all the difference for some of my clients, in particular.

It’s not a goodbye, it’s a seeya later, or a see you next visit.

I have one more week dedicated to all my regular clients. Please know, I will miss all your babies so much!

With love,
Jem

RECALL YOUR DOG PLEASE 🔊

The all too familiar sound of a reactive dog owner advocating for their dog.

The trouble is, it shouldn’t be left up to reactive dog owners alone to have to do that. I believe everyone should be entitled to enjoy a walk, with their dog, regardless of its temperament, in peace and in harmony. Without the trouble of an unwelcome, off-leash dog floating around.

The truth is, I see a lot of dogs who get to enjoy the freedom of off-leash time when really, they might be better off on a held, or dropped long lead.

If you feel like you have a really good recall apart from (rabbits, that’s for you Hal) congratulations, you have gotten to the point where you can identify triggers.

Meaning you can plan the time and location of your walks strategically to set you up with the best chance of success.

If your dog’s triggers consist of elements that are frequently observed on walks. I would advise choosing quiet, nature filled environments with plenty of space for your dog to sniff and enjoy the freedoms of a held long lead. Continue building on your impulse control, obedience, and value in YOU.

Alternate options are available for high-drive dogs. Hallie and myself are currently embarking on our. E-Collar training journey with
