On Tuesday nights we do agility with the Shoalhaven Dog Training Club. This is something I look forward to pursuing with Hal as a bit of a side gig to her detection!

The learning never stops, although she seems to be picking this up much faster than me 🎾

Some very windy weather only makes the dogs more stir crazy!

Hal and Noops are not friends, but here they are setting an example for all the multi dog households who are struggling with fights that can be prevented through effective management strategies.

While having dogs separate is not an ideal, at times the risk does not outweigh the benefit of allowing them to be together. But fear not as you can take it from us! You can make it work.

Often in life, the most important lesson to be learned is right underneath our nose.

More important than any behaviour, any command and any reinforcement schedule.

Is the bond.

Comradeship between a man and his dog.

My brother Dane sadly lost his dog Tilla in a very unfortunate accident back in September during an innocent game of fetch.

It was devastating. The type of sadness you wish you could protect your loved ones from.

Tilla’s passing left a huge hole in my brother’s heart. It became clear he needed a companion. So he rehomed a failed working dog called Dusty, who needed love at the time, just as much as Dane did.

The part of this story that often gets left untold, is how patient you must be.

This is the reality of rehoming a dog - when you have not been around in the formative, learning periods. The dog must learn over a long while that you will be patient, and stick around while they figure things out for themselves.

Dusty required a-lot of patience, desexing, and constant companionship to allow him to uncover his true character. All of which Dane has provided.

Dusty was once terrified of the beach, of a field, and would always be on guard during walks.

While I would never wish the grief of a dog on anybody. At times it allows us as humans to uncover our character too. Thank you Dane, for giving Dusty the life he deserved!

May your sweet Tilla forever RIP 🤍

Imagine being a dog trainer.

Then imagine a runner stumbles across you on a walk with your dog. As she is skull dragging you into a bush for the scent of a rabbit the runner asks, “oh man are you okay”.

If you can, you might just know what it’s like to take your Spaniel on a bush walk 🤍

You guys might not know……. Drum roll please 🥁🥁🥁Not only did I turn 30 in the break Ive had from socials, but I also purchased the best birthday present I could have asked for!

A grey Hyundai Iload (one I literally dreamt about a year ago during May). 🌸Her name is Helga the Hyundai 🌸 while she is not a van that will transport many dogs, she is the perfect camper 🏕️

Best of all, Hal has her own private headquarters 👑Undisturbed from the smell of other dogs (that was really getting on her nerves about the old van) 🫠

🌸Helga 🌸 is reliable and a fun, new way to explore for Jordan and I too! (That paragraph really sums up Hal as the priority which is definitely not the case 😉)

This week we made it up to Crescent Head 🌊with the Fam to celebrate love! ❤️ It’s been a cracker and I’m so incredibly stoked to have done it in my own purchase!

Independent woman things supported by the absolute love of my life 🎀

If you have questions about travelling with dogs or any training issues you’re facing at the moment feel free to swing me a message 💌

While I’m not out and about with the dogs as much, I do miss helping people with particular training difficulties so I’m more than happy to help where I can 💖

I also might start doing 🌼home consultations🌼 by appointment only, so if this is something you might be interested in, please let me know 🌸

Sometimes in life we need to rewrite a new narrative before we are ready. Fearing the unknown is a sure fire way to holding yourself back from opportunity.

So here’s to a new chapter, following the adventures of Hal. Affinity was a legacy written throughout a journey of grief.

The travel diary’s of Hal is being written at a cusp of new things! Together, we plan to show you how to incorporate any dog into your day to day life, not just on camp trips.

This is a more selfish chapter, no doubt about it - less time to physically walk your dogs, yet allowing me more time to show you how you can do it yourself.

We have highlight reels and we have reality.

In the last few weeks we have lost four beautiful dogs from the Affinity community. I have been unsure how to say something on this, because grief is such a personal experience. However, I can say, with confidence - we are universal in our suffering when it comes to a beloved pet. It’s also helped me realise you have to make the time to do the things you love while you have it.

Last night Taco enjoyed a lovely off-leash romp along an empty beach with her best pal Hal 🤍 then she went for a slow stroll along the path taking in all of the smells followed by and LLB at

I’m on my way to finding the time (ensuring I’m pouring from a full cup) for more walks. Availability will be released when it exists but first I’ll be in contact with specific regulars who I feel obligated to touch base with first 🌸
