Working sheep with J 🐑🐕

You know that saying “this isn’t my first rodeo”? Well, this IS absolutely my first rodeo!

I am new to working sheep with dogs. Most days the dogs are teaching me. I’m lucky enough to have a very good friend who comes out and helps me and teaches me. He happens to be a wizard with dogs. A wizard with any animal actually. I’m lucky to have someone like him teaching me.

Safe to say I’m loving this new training!

Just me out there competing with my dogs with the biggest smile on my face 🥰🐾

The girls did well last weekend. We learnt a lot! Lots of take homes.
Gidgee won the Beginners Retrieve
Joy came second in the Beginners Retrieve

Joy did well in the Novice Retrieve but didn’t place and Gidgee got disqualified.
We had two cracking goes in the Open RATG but both girls didn’t end up finishing on the last retrieve!

We learnt heaps and I’m proud of how they performed. I handled the gun a whole heap better this time too!

I know I’ve said it before but if you’ve thought about getting into Retrieving, you should! The retrieve community is such a good one. Everyone is so welcoming, patient and always willing to help. It’s always a great day.

I was once told “if you teach them to retrieve, be careful what you wish for… they’ll soon be picking everything up!” There were never truer words spoken!
