Gold Coasters will soon have access to free, walk-in mental health support
and care with a new Medicare Mental Health Centre set to open this year.
Gold Coasters will soon have access to free, walk-in mental health support and care with
a new Medicare Mental Health Centre set to open this year.
The centre will offer mental health support and care for people in distress, without
the need for an appointment, referral or mental health treatment plan.
The Gold Coast Medicare Mental Health Centre is jointly funded by the Federal and
State Governments and is expected to open very soon as part of a network of 91
Medicate Mental Health Centres across Australia so more people can get the help
they deserve, closer to home.
This means you can now access free guided therapy from home. With no referral
needed, and no cost to you.
You can visit medicarementalhealthcheckin.gov.au to learn more or get started
today.
Think of it like a check-up for your mental health. It’s about helping people early,
before things get worse.
And freeing up specialist services for those who need them most.
The service is delivered over the phone by trained practitioners, so you can access it
from wherever you are in Queensland. It’s fully funded by the Albanese Government
and delivered in partnership with St Vincent’s Health Australia.

The Gold Coast City Council is considering privatising our four remaining publicly owned Aquatic Centres.

The four Aquatic Centres are: Southport Aquatic Centre, Palm Beach Aquatic Centre, Pimpama Sports Hub and the Upper Coomera Aquatic Centre. The Southport centre has been proudly owned by us since 1964 – 1965. Locals have seen improvements to a standard where we hold trials for Olympic Games and host Commonwealth Games. Why hand this to private enterprise? This is a jewel in our Gold Coast Crown as are the other Council owned and managed centres.

If you want to keep ownership and management of these facilities, call your local councillor now.
