Director and Manager, Peter Hayes, is a 4th generation cattleman and livestock auctioneer, with his great grandfather commencing business in the local area in 1902. Peter has extensive knowledge of the livestock industry with years of experience in his trade. Silverdale Saleyards are a Livestock Agricultural Centre, the only saleyards in SE Qld that is NSQA accredited. The site includes holding ya
rds plus dipping & clearing facilities. Cattle sales at Silverdale include:
* The weekly Silverdale Live Weight Sale held every Wednesday at 8.30am;
* The fortnightly Silverdale Store sale held every 2nd Saturday at 12pm; and
* The Silverdale Country Market Sale held every 2nd Monday at 11am which specialises in calves, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry and bric-a-brac. Paddock sales are also a large part of the Hayes & Co business with vendors and buyers coming from far afield to trade their cattle. Hayes & Co Pty Ltd hosts the annual Silverdale Show & Sale in March. This Show and Sale has gained a reputation for its high standard of cattle. Hayes & Co also host a number of weaner sales and various breed infused sales throughout the year. Hayes and Co Pty Ltd also conduct clearing sales on request and multi-vendor auctions are also held periodically. Adjacent to the saleyards is the Silverdale Rural Centre. The Silverdale Rural Centre includes:
* Hayes & Co Rural Merchandise which specialises in a wide range of rural products,
* The Country Apparel store stocking a wide range of country apparel, gifts and saddlery products; and
* The Guns and Ammo shop specialising in the sale of new and old guns, ammunition and hunting supplies. Peter purchased the Nebo saleyards in 2008, where he holds monthly prime and store cattle sales, annual bull & horse sales, paddock sales, clearing & multi-vendor sales. Regular Prime & Store sales are also held at Sarina Showgrounds.
