Foxwood Bird Boarding

Foxwood Bird Boarding Foxwood Bird Boarding is fully registered and insured and has grown from our love of birds.

31/10/2024

I would like to thank all of Foxwood's clients and friends over the past 2 and a half years for trusting us with your feathered friends.

We have had a fantastic time looking after your birds and keeping them entertained.

During our time, we had over 600 birds come to us for their holidays, and aside from the first 2 weeks of opening, there was never a day that we did not have birds boarding with us.

As one of the only legitimate, registered and insured bird boarding spaces, it was obvious that our clients trusted us and valued our small business model, traveling to us, not only locally, but from hours away, to bring their birds to us for their holidays.

With the younger Foxwooder heading off to pursue his career dreams, I am cutting my working hours back to a fulltime load and hoping to tick off some of my bucket list items.

Foxwood farewelled our last visitors yesterday, the gorgeous Molly and Roi Roi.

This page will remain active for anyone seeking advice, so you have a port of contact to me.

We will also continue to assist anyone looking to rehome or surrender.

The phone number will remain active until the beginning of 2025.

Kindest regards,

Michele and Zac.

** We are at capacity **

With a few bookings coming in over the next few days and current feathered 'holidayers', we are full for the October school holidays.

It’s a full house at the moment with a variety of feathered friends. The wolf whistlers and kiss blowers, the ones that laugh and groan in annoyance when I announce its bedtime, the singers of Queen, Jurassic park and Pavarotti - it’s never boring at Foxwood .

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM FOXWOOD BIRD BOARDING

I would like to take this opportunity to inform our valued clients that Foxwood Bird Boarding will be ceasing operations as of the end of October 2024. This decision has not been easy, but it is necessary due to an increased workload and the impending departure of the other half of Foxwood, who is pursuing an exciting new career opportunity.
I am committed to seeing the hard work and success of Foxwood Bird Boarding continue. As such, the business will be advertised for sale on the 13th of this month. With a 49.1% increase in turnover for the financial year ending June 2024, Foxwood Bird Boarding offers a unique opportunity for the right buyer to take on a growing business in a rewarding environment. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please feel free to contact me for a prospectus.
Zac and I have had an incredible time meeting wonderful people and amazing feathered friends over the past 28 months. We have greatly appreciated the trust you have placed in us to care for your flock during this time.

Kindest regards,
Michele

Although it’s currently a non holiday time we have quite a few feathered friends staying at Foxwood.

Can you guess, what is the most popular type of bird that people have as pets?

***** Biosecurity (Avian Influenza) Emergency Order 2024 under the Biosecurity Act 20154******

You may be aware of the current biosecurity issue involving Avian Influenza which has been detected in the Greater Sydney Basin/Freeman's Reach areas over the past few days.

There has been a declaration of biosecurity emergency placed on a Freeman's Reach property which encompasses quite a large area around the property and adjoining suburbs.
As this is a developing avian emergency, I am taking all measures into consideration to ensure the health and wellbeing of our visiting birds and our own flock.

If you live or work in the area within the boundary formed by Putty Road, Wilberforce Road, Hawkesbury Valley Way, Bells Line of Road, Kurmond Road and Macquarie Street, Foxwood Bird Boarding will NOT be able to assist with any boarding up until the declared Emergency Order ends on 19 December 2024.

To alleviate any concerns for our clients, there will be no visits to the bird room by any persons who live or work within those boundaries, under any circumstances.

I did warn some of my clients that I may post some non bird pics on here today.

Here is the other half of Foxwood Bird Boarding. He was chosen to be part of the King’s Guard during today’s Sovereign Parade for the King’s birthday. It is a huge honour and a great experience for him.
He was so excited to be chosen by the Governor of NSW for a chat.

A message for any of my clients who keep licenced birds.

There is currently a public exhibition of a Draft Code of Practice - dealing with protected birds. From what I have read, this will mean instead of having to renew licencing and keep stock records, any keepers of protected species will instead, abide by a Code of Practice.

Visit the webpage for further information and updates at

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking feedback on the draft dealing in protected birds code of practice.

We are currently taking bookings up to and inclusive of 7th October 2024.

After this date we will be renovating, and bird boarding will be unavailable.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We thank all our feathered families for your ongoing support of Foxwood Bird Boarding.

Molly and Roi Roi are two very cute galahs who visit with us. They spent some time with us in April and settled in very quickly. We always enjoy a visit from these two girls.

Champ stayed at Foxwood for a few months. He has an amazing vocab and would say goodnight and good morning every day. He loved his scratches and hanging upside down on my arm. During his stay he learnt to yell at 'the kid'. 'Hey Zac'! was his new learnt phrase which tells me, as a mum of a teen, I said it too much :D. We loved having Champ here for his extended stay.
