As promised
I got hold of the video of Luna and I (David) rally run from yesterday at southern obedience dog club, with thanks to Marie Atsidakos.
Lucky to not be pinged for the muck up at the final station (figure 8, I entered in the opposite direction I should have)

I don’t think David Sanfords bragging skills are quite at the same level as Anthony and Alan’s but if he and Luna keep performing like they did today they may well improve.

Huge Congratulations guys on your 1st Place🥇 and perfect 100/100 in Rally Excellent today at Southern Obedience Club in Melbourne. Well Done!!!

But as you know Anthony and I don’t like playing second fiddle so we also managed a perfect score in Rally Masters to share the winners spotlight!

Go the Shepp dogs! Woof 🦴🐕🐾

Picture please Dave!!

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this, one of our life members Paul O’Bryan lost his German Shepherd Rogue (Obywan B Jar Jar Binks) tonight. Born 18/3/2018 from Paul other Shepherd Freya after becoming unwell on Sunday and undergoing emergency surgery. Rogue had a great life, enjoying showing, obedience and tracking as well as regular car rides and coffee catch ups with a bit of bacon. I would like to pass on our condolences to Paul, as well as Lisa, our thoughts are with you.

FOR MY BEGGINER LEDGENDS
LURE= High value treat right at the nose to guide them into position. ( yes they can Nibble If they are workig towards the behaviour watch your fingies )
MARK= (yes/good/click) the instant the dog performs the desired behaviour ie:butt hits the ground for the sit. Elbows for the Down and head turn for the recalls.
REWARD= delivered Immediately In position to begin with
CUE= once dog can follow Lure consistently we add the verbal cue ( ie sit ) just BEFORE the hand motion to lure.
RELEASE= ( Free/break/ok ) to start with this will follow the reward rapidly but gradually we will add a second between reward and release or several markers for holding the position longer before release.

Note
If we give them a formal cue/command we must release them always to keep it consistent and lot leave them guessing when they have to stay still and when they can move.

Transition
Fading out the bribe we often use the Hand signal similar to the lure as a guide but So our dogs don’t only perform when they can see the reward, we start to hide the treat in a closed hand then we may use the same hand to lure but the opposite hand to give the reward. Changes the picture so the dog learns no matter what that funny noise you make means the same thing regardless of if I can see the yummies/toy.

Remember short happy sessions and practice in many locations.

See information below.
Existing members, it is renewal time.
New and existing members find information on the website https://www.sheppartonobedience.net/membership.html
I have included screenshots of the fees in the comments, it is important to remember the levy charged to non dogs Victoria members, this is an insurance fee set by the state body, dogs Vic members don't pay this levy as it is included with that membership.

Important reminders:
If the forecast at 6pm Saturday night is 36° or higher, club will not go ahead inline with dogs Victoria extreme weather policy.

November intermediate A moves to intermediate B, same time 10am.
